Kaley Cuoco is not one to shy away from love, even if it means risking heartbreak. In interviews, she's exclaimed just how much she 'loves love,' and well... fans can tell! Kaley has had various high-profile relationships, with two of them so far resulting in marriage.
From 2013 to 2016, Kaley was married to Ryan Sweeting. Then in 2018, she married Karl Cook; they divorced in early 2022. Immediately after their split was announced, there was speculation that Kaley and Pete Davidson might have been an item while they were working together.
It turned out that wasn't true. But now, Kaley is dating someone new and says her life is just starting with him by her side. Yet not long ago, Cuoco was struggling as her marriage to Cook ended, and times were tougher than she ever let on.
Kaley Cuoco Revealed She Hit Rock Bottom During Her Divorce
In an interview with Variety, Kaley Cuoco revealed that as her character on The Flight Attendant (Cassie) was "hitting rock bottom," so was she.
While working on season two, Kaley admitted, she began going to therapy for the first time ever. She explained that it was "one of the hardest years" of her life, both from a creative perspective — portraying a character who was "so tormented" — but also because of her divorce.
Calling the experience "horrible," Kaley described a rash she developed as a result of the stress, and the way that Zosia Mamet helped support her during that tough time.
Yet Kaley doesn't have anything negative to say about Karl specifically; her descriptions of the experience post-breakup are all self-reflective, and she seems to word things carefully so as not to suggest Cook was ever the bad guy.
Back when they were dating, she noted that they were perfect together, saying they were "very meant to be."
Relying On Friends And Therapy Helped Kaley Get Through The Trauma
Kaley told Variety that she relied on her live-in friend Zosia, whose Airbnb rental was up right around the time Kaley found herself needing some live-in support.
But she also reached out to her co-workers and producers, revealing her struggles and that she needed help.
Cuoco called it "an intervention on myself," which was hard because she's so independent and prideful.
The fact that she reached out did help her get through things, specifically difficult scenes while working on the show. After all, Cassie goes through a lot, and Kaley had to be authentic without diving so deep that she lost herself.
Kaley's Trauma Played Out In Real Life And On Set
Viewers have loved The Flight Attendant for its twists and turns, but also for how real it feels. As it turns out, there's a reason Cassie's breakdown feels so intimate; the beach scene from Episode 5 was Kaley letting all her emotions out.
She described that when her director asked how she wanted to do the beach scene, Kaley asked for them to "just, like, put cameras around the beach, and just start rolling."
The result was Kaley venting her sadness and frustration — feelings her character was dealing with, too — and the entire thing translated into the show.
Kaley also elaborated, "It was so life-imitating-art at certain moments that it was eerie. I truly feel like the pain I was going through, a lot of that was real on camera."
Namely, the breakup scene with Marco; Kaley was adamant that her breakup didn't happen that way, but the "whole idea" of the breakup, and having to say the words, hurt.
Kaley Cuoco Is Dating Someone New, And Working On New Projects
Fortunately, as Kaley has expressed in recent months, she's far happier now and in a better place mentally and personally. Though there have been hints at a third season for The Flight Attendant, Kaley's in no big rush, and she has other projects going on at the same time.
That's not to say she wouldn't do a third season, but she pointed out that she wants the project to be wanted, not forced down viewers' throats.
Meanwhile, Cuoco seems happy to focus on more positive projects that aren't quite as draining — especially now that she's recovered emotionally from her divorce and is happy with the "incredible man" she's with now.
That said, Kaley has been adamant that she will "never get married again," telling Glamour they could 'put it on the cover' of the magazine post-interview. That doesn't mean she can't be happily partnered up, though!
