When thinking of famous reality TV moms, one of the first names that comes to mind is Kate Gosselin. In 2007, Kate, along with her husband Jon Gosselin, chronicled their lives raising 8 children on the TLC series, Jon & Kate Plus 8. The series was a massive success that saw millions of viewers tuning in, but for Jon and Kate, the immense fame ended up costing them their marriage, and, sadly, even their children have taken sides.
Kate and Jon found themselves on the front cover of every tabloid magazine with accusations of infidelity on both sides. And, they have continued to have a tumultuous relationship. Although Jon left TV behind, Kate went on to star in a continuation of their show, called Kate Plus 8, which aired from 2010-2017. But, since then, she has appeared to be far removed from the spotlight.

Kate Gosselin Lives A Much Quieter Life These Days
It's incredibly hard to see a once beloved reality TV mom just disappear from the spotlight. That's what seemed to happen to Kate Gosselin after spending a decade documenting her life as a mother of sextuplets and twins on television.
According to a report by OK! magazine, Kate's life today is nothing like what it was when she starred on reality TV. Kate is living a much simpler life away from cameras with her children, Mady, Cara, Aaden, Alexis, Joel, and Leah, while Kate's ex has custody of Hannah and Collin. Kate no longer lives in Pennsylvania and resides in North Carolina.
"Kate went from being one of the country's most popular reality TV stars, even appearing on Dancing With the Stars, to living a quiet life in North Carolina with hardly any friends and only some of her kids to talk to. It's very sad," an insider shard.

Sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel Gosselin | May 10, 2004 |
The source disclosed that Kate's life had drastically changed. She went from being one of reality TV's most popular figures to living a life outside the public eye. "Her life is nothing like it once was. She made a lot of money, she was on the cover of magazines, doing talk show appearances. She had business opportunities, and now all that's gone."
Despite Selling Her Million Dollar Pennsylvania Mansion, She's Still Living Well In A Waterfront Home In North Carolina
Kate may no longer be on the cover of magazines and making money as a reality TV star, but she seems to be living decently after selling her and Jon's former Pennsylvania home in 2021.
According to People, when they were married, the former couple purchased a sprawling $1.1 million mansion in Wernersville, Pennsylvania in 2008, and Kate had lived in the home after their divorce. The 5,791-square-foot mansion featured six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a saltwater pool, and a three-car detached garage. Kate and Jon's children also had plenty of space to run around as the home sat on 23 acres of land. Kate sold the home for $1.2 million. However, she's since relocated to North Carolina.
inTouch reported that Kate had moved to North Carolina with her children because of financial problems. "Kate had been living a relatively normal life in Pennsylvania for years after her reality show fame began to fizzle out," the source said, adding, "Finances were always an issue, though. Kate had been living way above her means for years."

Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend, Stephanie Lebo, opens up about his ex Kate and their strained family ties, while Jon plans a Thanksgiving proposal.
However, her new home isn't too shabby. In fact, the outlet reported that Kate and her children now live in a one-level property that overlooks the water. The home features four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a private pier, which sits on Lake Norman. Kate purchased the home in 2018.
"The move just made sense, and it's a better way of life for her and the kids now. The younger four will be in college this year. Kate didn't need to keep their gigantic home in [Wernersville, Pennsylvania]."
What Does Kate Do For A Living After No Longer Being A Household Name?
Fans of Kate & Jon Plus 8 might wonder how Kate afforded her North Carolina home or how she's taking care of her many kids now that she is no longer earning a check from reality TV. After leaving reality TV behind for good, Kate is back to working as a nurse.
According to inTouch, Kate obtained a "multi-state license" from the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Before she became a household name, Kate worked as a labor and delivery nurse at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Returning to her former profession appeared to be a smooth transition.
As for her ex, Jon, he remains in Pennsylvania with their children, Hannah and Collin. Kate had lost custody of her two children amid accusations about her parenting that included allegedly emotionally abusing her son, Collin. Jon also remains estranged from his six other kids.
Kate's Son Collin Accussed His Mother Of Abuse
Although Kate isn't on TV, she has been making headlines after her son, Collin Gosselin, accused his mother of emotional abuse and detailed how she kept him away from his siblings by locking him in their basement when he was a child.
In an interview with The Sun in September, Collin said, "It was a very, very emotionally abusive relationship. When my mother would put me in that room multiple times, she had zip-tied my hands and feet together and bolt-locked the door, turned off the lights and had cameras there just watching me."
Collin was institutionalized as a child by a decision made by Kate, which he believes was the reason why he was discharged from the Marines. In 2023, Kate defended her reasoning as to why she believed her son needed to seek professional help for the sake of his mental well-being. In a lengthy Instagram post, the former reality star detailed that her son had "received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years" for his "attacks/outbursts," which have caused his siblings to remain out of his life.
"Unfortunately, I believe Collin remains a very troubled young man who continues to need a lot of help. His brothers and sisters and I have not been directly involved in his life due to his history of unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies towards us."
In an interview with The US Sun in October, Collin stated that he would like to make amends with his mother, only if she admits that she had mistreated him when he was a child. Kate had not yet responded to his request.
