A recent video has been going around of Prince William zooming through Windsor Castle in an electric scooter without a helmet, and while that might seem harmless, it set off alarms for Kate.
The Prince has done his best to reassure Kate that he is being safe, but she can't help but worry about him. It doesn't help that William apparently has a history of enjoying adrenaline-filled activities, and she's concerned that attitude will cause him to be less careful.
Kate Middleton Worried About Prince William’s Antics
Prince William has been working a lot, shouldering extra responsibilities as his wife and father have been dealing with their illnesses. Because of this, Kate Middleton worries that, in his exhaustion, he might have an accident while driving his scooter.
"William is so busy – he’s exhausted all the time with everything he’s got on his plate, so whizzing around on a scooter with no helmet is tempting fate,” a source told Closer.
“If he takes a fall, he could really hurt himself and the last thing anyone needs right now is for him to end up in the hospital. They have enough to deal with as it is. Kate does her best not to nag him, but she was not pleased to find out he had neglected to wear his helmet and now she’s stressing about the worst-case scenario and demanding he always wears a helmet.”
The worst part was, according to the insider, that he seemed dismissive of the Princess’s concerns.
“William has reassured Kate that the scooter hardly gets going at any sort of speed, as far as he’s concerned there’s zero reason to worry,” the source explained. “Kate was pretty disappointed that he’d be so reckless but trusts him to be more careful in the future.”
Prince William's Responsibilities Are Wearing Him Down
While fans had a blast seeing the heir to the throne zip around on a scooter, the reason he got it has less to do with fun and more to do with how crazy his schedule is right now. According to the insider, he bought it so he could reach King Charles at a moment's notice.
"The fact that he’s under such a time crunch that he has to zip around Buckingham Palace on an electric scooter, rather than walking, gives a glimpse into how busy he is," the source said.
"It doesn’t help that he’s running on empty most days, he’s always racing from one meeting to the next and never has any downtime."
However, that's not the only thing worrying Kate Middleton. The Prince was an avid motorbike rider before becoming a dad and has never really lost his daredevil spirit.
“He’s a very adventurous guy who tends to push the limits, there’s no doubt he loves to get an adrenaline rush when he can, so she can’t help but worry."
The source also explained that, despite William's reassurances, Kate hasn't stopped worrying, and they advised the Prince to be "smart" and "just make her happy and wear a helmet every time."
"The good news is Kate’s feeling better, but after so many months of having William tell her to take care of her health, she just wishes he would do the same.”
