In March, Kate Middleton shared the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The announcement followed months of speculation about the Princess of Wales' whereabouts and well-being, with people believing that she had disappeared from the public eye due to marriage problems with Prince William.
The real reason was sadder and more concerning, but the Princess is receiving the best medical care available and seems optimistic about her prognosis. Months after sharing her diagnosis, Kate Middleton decided to give an update on how her treatment is going.
Kate Middleton's Health Update
After announcing her diagnosis a couple of months ago, the Princess of Wales retreated from the public eye almost completely. Now, she's finally feeling well enough to reach out to supporters and update them on her illness.
"I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times," her statement began.
Kate Middleton spoke candidly about her treatment and how she was feeling and tried not to give people false hopes, as she still has a long way to go before she can say she's recovered.
"I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting," she admitted. "But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."
Despite this, she's tentatively rejoining her previous commitments, especially those concerning her children, but she warned fans that her treatment will last a long time.
"My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."
Kate Middleton Is Rejoining Public Life Despite Not Being 'Out Of The Woods'
Kate Middleton has always been very involved in royal engagements that required her to interact with the public, and despite her illness, she's itching to go back to work. So after months of treatment, she's slowly returning to her working schedule. Of course, there's no pressure, but she genuinely wants to do it.
"I'm looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer," she shared, before warning people that she's "not out of the woods yet."
Although she's very eager to return to her normal life, Kate Middleton has accepted that it probably won't happen any time soon.
"I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal," the Princess added.
"Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me."
