According to a report from Variety, Kevin’s forthcoming movie Horizon: A Western Saga is scheduled to be released in theaters next year. It’ll be two parts. Chapter 1 is slated to premiere on June 28, 2024, followed by the premiere of Chapter 2 on August 16, 2024.

In addition to directing the film, Kevin takes on a leading role in the production alongside Sienna Miller, Luke Wilson, Jena Malone, Giovanni Ribisi, and others. Additionally, the film features several of his co-stars from Yellowstone, including Will Patton, Danny Huston, and Dalton Baker.

Kevin’s quest to bring Horizon to life began as far back as the late 1980s, though the project finally commenced production in early 2022. According to Taylor Sheridan, one of the co-creators of Yellowstone, Kevin’s Horizon was a key factor that influenced Costner's desire to step away from his role as John Dutton in the award-winning show.

“He and the network were arguing about when he could be done with Yellowstone. I said, ‘We can certainly work a schedule toward [his preferred exit date],’ which we did,” Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in June, leaving Kevin’s future in the hit show up in the air.

“His movie seems to be a great priority to him and he wants to shift focus. I sure hope [the movie is] worth it — and that it’s a good one,” Sheridan went on.

Kevin reportedly said goodbye to an impressive salary by departing Yellowstone. Reports said the actor was making $1.3 million per episode in season five. Kevin has a reported net worth of $250 million.

The actor may have a vast fortune, but he’ll likely keep all of it in his ongoing divorce with Christine Baumgartner, who filed for separation after two decades of marriage in the summer.

The pair have a prenup that stipulates how the assets are to be divided in the event of a break-up, but Christine allegedly tried to defy the legal document by refusing to move out of their shared family home (which Kevin bought prior to their marriage and was entitled to keep solely to himself, as per the prenup).

Christine has since moved into a rental property while she finds something permanent, which Kevin is reportedly financing.

Moreover, the exes recently settled their child support dispute, and it was a win for Kevin. The Dancing with Wolves star, 68, must make monthly payments of $63,209 to Christine to support their three children: 15-year-old son Cayden, 14-year-old son Logan, and 12-year-old daughter Grace.

Prior to the court's ruling, Christine had been receiving a temporary monthly payment of $129,755. But she was arguing to have this increased to $248,000, asserting that it was essential to uphold the luxurious lifestyle their children were accustomed to. However, the court did not grant her request. The exes’ divorce has yet to be finalized.
