Kevin Sussman Had A Very Different Reality Prior To His Success In Hollywood
Kevin Sussman's breakout role took place on The Big Bang Theory. However, his journey to the sitcom wasn't an easy one. Sussman started off climbing his way up the ladder by taking on commercial gigs. In order to make ends meet at the time, Sussman was involved in a completely different world.
The actor said in a Blog Spot interview, "I worked at Chase Bank and Fuji Bank in the World Trade Center actually doing everything from admin assistance to basic programming. Excel and Word to I.T. stuff—just real hardcore nerd s***."
As for his success on The Big Bang Theory, that opportunity almost dashed after he was forced to turn down the show's initial request given his schedule at the time.
"Actually Chuck Lorre, the creator of TBBT, originally wanted me to play the role of Kripke, but I couldn’t do it because I was doing a movie at the time. So I ended up doing Stuart which was just supposed to be like a day on the show and then they had me come back a couple of times and then the rest is history.”
Sussman made the most of his opportunity as Stuart. According to the actor, improvising a line with Kaley Cuoco showed the potential of his character on the show and it would result in frequent appearances throughout the seasons.
Kevin Sussman Made A One Time Payment To His Ex-Wife During Their Divorce Settlement, With Both Waving Spousal Support
Kevin Sussman made a cool $50,000 per episode on The Big Bang Theory. Although that is a very impressive number, diehard Big Bang fans will argue that he should've made more given his popularity on the series.
As it turns out, Sussman could've lost a big chunk of that fortune during the show's second last year in 2018. At the time, the actor was going through a divorce with ex-wife, Alessandra Young. According to Yahoo, Sussman made a one time payment to his ex, and both waved any type of spousal support payment.
The publication writes, "Young received a one-time payment from Sussman when they separated and will not be receiving spousal support, according to the judgment."
“Both parties have waived the right to receive spousal support from one party to the other except for a one-time payment by [Sussman] to [Young],” according to the documents."
The couple were married for just over a decade until they finalized their divorce. As for Sussman's current status, The Big Bang Theory alum is once again off the market, tying the knot with partner Addie Hall in April of 2023.
Kevin Sussman Is Currently Sitting On A $3 Million Net Worth
Kevin Sussman maintains an impressive net worth these days of $3 million. A major part of that comes from The Big Bang Theory. Sussman was meant for the role as he actually worked at a comic book store prior to landing the gig. However, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady weren't even aware of this when Sussman got the role.
“I used to work at a comic book store. I worked at Jim Hanley's Universe in New York City while in acting school. I wasn't a fan of comics before I started working there, but I became a fan afterward. I am a really big fan of Frank Miller and Alan Moore."
"When I was working at that comic store, fellow employees introduced me to things, good stuff like Love & Rockets. Also, to Daniel Clowes. I love his book called Eight Ball—its probably my favorite comic book."
Sussman fit perfectly into the role while he also credits The Big Bang Theory cast and their easy going nature behind the scenes. The actor had an appreciation for how relaxed the atmosphere was with the cast, writers and producers behind the scenes.
