Easily one of the most respected performers in rap music history, Eminem has accomplished more than enough to go down in history. Unsurprisingly, enjoying that kind of success has been extremely financially rewarding for Eminem which is why he can reportedly afford to spend over $400,000 on an NFT.

During the 1990s and 2000s, Eminem and Kim Scott married and divorced twice with her reportedly getting a settlement that almost was worth $500,000. With that information in mind, it begs an obvious question, how did Kim Scott spend her settlement money?

How Long Were Eminem And Kim Scott A Couple?

In life, some couples seem like they can never leave each other behind no matter if their relationship works or not. Even though it has been many years since Eminem and his ex-wife Kim Scott were a couple, they have been a part of each other's lives in one form or another for decades.

In 1987, Eminem and Scott met for the first time when he was 15 years old, and she was 13 years old. Kim and her sister Dawn who'd recently run away from home at the time then moved in with Eminem and his mom.

Several years after they first met, Eminem and Scott welcomed their daughter Hailie Jade Mathers into the world in 1995. From there, Eminem and Scott would go on to make their relationship official in 1999.

After Eminem and Scott tied the knot in 1999, their marriage turned out to be short-lived as they got divorced in 2001. By 2006, Eminem and Scott had reconciled as they remarried that year to the amazement of many of his fans who'd heard the wild things he rapped about her in the past.

The second time around, Scott and Eminem's marriage only lasted a matter of a few months. Since their second marriage ended, there hasn't been any hints that the former couple will ever have a romantic relationship again.

While the romance may be dead, Eminem and Scott will forever be associated. After all, Scott and Eminem welcomed their daughter Hailie into the world. On top of that, Eminem has become the adopted father of Scott's other child from another relationship, Stevie. Finally, after Scott's sister sadly passed away Eminem adopted her daughter, Alaina.

What Did Kim Scott Do With Her Divorce Settlement?

Throughout entertainment history, there have been endless examples of incredibly expensive divorces. In many of those cases, a star's ex-spouse has walked away from the marriage with tens of millions or more.

The Things

When Eminem and Kim Scott got married and divorced, she arguably could have gone after a huge portion of his fortune. While it is unclear if Scott could have prevailed in an extensive legal battle liket that, she didn't opt to take that route.

Instead, Eminem and Scott quickly agreed on how much money she would get. While the former couple later renegotiated how much child support Eminem paid back then, there is no evidence that the amount of money Scott walked away with at first changed.

According to multiple reports, Scott's divorce settlement was for $475,000. Of course, that is a large amount of money for most people, but it seems likely that Scott could have gotten more money out of Eminem if she really wanted to.

Putting aside how much money Scott theoretically could have gotten from her divorce, the real question is what did she get with the money she was paid. Unsurprisingly, Scott didn't put out any statements about what she did with the money.

Fortunately for anyone who wants to know where Scott's divorce settlement went, there certainly are breadcrumbs to follow that paint a very clear picture. After Eminem and Scott first got divorced in 2001, they later remarried and called things off forever in 2006.

According to a little-known website called celebritydetective.com, Scott bought a home in Macomb, Michigan months after her divorce was settled in May 2006. That report claims that Scott paid $380,000 for the home in question.

The same website reports that a couple of years later, Scott bought a second home. "In November of 2008, Kim Mathers purchased a Colonial style home in the Detroit suburb of Macomb, Michigan for $395,000. Built in 1987 and set on over three acres, the home includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, den, sunroom, large patio, barn, and 2,630 square feet."

Since celebritydetective.com certainly isn't a well-known website, taking its reporting at face value doesn't make a lot of sense. However, there is other reporting from more credible sources that back up parts of celebritydetective.com's reporting at least.

First off, when Rolling Stone reported that Eminem and Scott settled their divorce, they wrote that she was going to use the money to buy a home. On top of that, there have been many news stories in recent years that have confirmed that Scott has been living in Macomb, Michigan.

Scott tragically has gone through some tough times over the years. To her credit, it appears that has been a couple of years now since Scott last had any problems on the national stage. It also has to be noted that Scott has also worked hard to pull her life together.

In years past when Scott's struggles garnered headlines, virtually every report mentioned Macomb by name. When Scott had to be hospitalized in 2021, Page Six reached out to the Macomb Sheriff’s Department for comment. When Scott got in a terrible car crash, it was reported that the accident happened in Macomb Township.

Finally, in March 2023 the radio station 102.5 reported that Scott was selling her Macomb, Michigan home. While the home that Scott appears to be selling now doesn't match celebritydetective.com's reporting, there isn't any question that she has been calling Macomb, Michigan her home.

Based on all the publicly available information, there seems to be a very conclusive picture that Scott used her divorce money to buy real estate in Macomb, Michigan.
