Summary

  • Avid Taylor Swift fan Kim Wilde couldn't make it to the iconic Eras Tour due to her own busy music career.
  • Despite missing out on the experience, Kim continues to express admiration for Swift and younger musicians in the industry.
  • Grateful for her "enduring love affair" with music, Kim Wilde remains determined and open-minded about creativity and new talent.

From Paul McCartney to Anne Hathaway, most of the biggest names in Hollywood and the music industry have been spotted at an Eras Tour concert at some point. The show, which never lasts less than 3 hours and spans through all of Taylor Swift’s career, is a must-see event, so Kim Wilde’s absence was strange.

The singer recently opened up about why she had to skip the Eras Tour, but before swifties get worried, it had nothing to do with Taylor. In fact, she praised the pop star heavily and shared her excitement for the great music coming from younger generations of singers.

The 63-year-old singer very openly adores Taylor Swift, so it was really surprising that she didn't attend the iconic show.

However, this is not due to a falling out or anything like that. In fact, in a recent in-depth interview with The Mirror, she had nothing but nice things to say about the pop star.

She described herself as a “not-so-secret Swiftie” and expressed how sad she was that couldn’t attend the iconic concerts, but she’s been too busy with her own tour.

However, she knows it’s a great experience, and would love to attend one of Taylor’s shows if she has time.

“I’d be fascinated just to see the audience, let alone Taylor herself – what a phenomenon! I’ve been really enchanted by the whole parade.”

Hopefully, she will get the chance to experience it before the Eras Tour ends in December.

Kim Wilde couldn't attend the Eras Tour because she has been almost as busy as she was when her career began 40 years ago. She couldn't stop making music if she tried, and she described her relationship with pop music as an "enduring love affair" she won't abandon any time soon.

She didn't just miss Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, she also missed Glastonbury while she was touring, but she said she hopes to make up for that soon.

Kim Wilde also opened up about how grateful she is to still be able to do what she loves after decades in the business. The singer went through some difficult health problems last year, and the fact that she's now out touring again makes her really emotional.

“The older I get the more grateful I am that I’m in this position,” she shared. “These days I’m literally just grateful to get out of bed. Gratitude comes easily to me."

"There were four months last year when getting out of bed was a real problem for me. I had some back problems, which I’ve since resolved fantastically, but I do know now that getting out of bed is no small thing."

Nowadays, she's more determined than ever to enjoy life and music, and she vows to always be open-minded about the younger generations of musicians and the great things they can do.

“When I see my dad at 85 still getting excited about Beyoncé’s new album, I know there’s no hope for me. Music has taken me captive and this is my world. I feel very inspired by it and I can’t imagine ever stopping.”

This attitude is so refreshing, compared to so many older musicians who like to put younger talents down, and proves Kim's youthful spirit and drive to be creative.
