In turn, the members of the Kardashian family have become some of the biggest names in Hollywood, boasting net worths of millions of dollars.
However, with fame comes downsides. Having spent over a decade on screen, the family hasn't been shy when it comes to sharing their struggles with fame. In recent years, Kourtney has also become more vocal surrounding the same topic. Let's take a look at how this Kardashian sister really feels.
Does Kourtney Prefer Filming The Kardashians Over The Original Show?
Keeping Up With The Kardashians aired its final episode in June 2021, marking the end of an iconic era. Shortly after, the family would announce the launch of their new reality tv show, The Kardashians, in collaboration with the popular streaming service Hulu. The show is very similar to the original reality TV show on E!, taking an inside look into the family's personal and working lives.
The family is reportedly also paid more for the new show, which may have been a contributing factor to their final decision. However, after a rocky few last seasons with Keeping Up With The Kardashians, how does Kourtney feel about filming the new show?
In an interview on 'Smallzy's Celebrity Small Talk' podcast, Kourtney opened up about her feelings towards the new show. Speaking to the host, she explained how she prefers filming the new show when compared to the original series as it allows her to have more private moments; "This new show films us individually ... we used to film five days a week at least and now it’s like there might be a week where I’m not even filming, which is refreshing because we can have time to breathe."
Despite seemingly preferring the new show due to its flexibility, Kourtney has also aired some issues too. In one of the episodes during the first season, Kourtney argued that the producers were painting the narrative of her newly blossoming love life in a negative light, and this was something that she wasn't happy about.
Kourtney Used To Hate Filming Keeping Up With The Kardashians
When filming for Keeping Up With The Kardashians began, Kourtney was just 28 years old, and while she may be used to filming now, it wasn't always the case for the reality tv star.
The now 43-year-old opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about how she felt about Season 1 of the show, explaining some of her early struggles; "I remember in season one being like, 'I have to go the bathroom,' and I'd cry in there as quietly as I could because I was still mic'd. I never want to cry in front of cameras."
Her mother, Kris Jenner, also revealed that Kourtney was initially resistant and somewhat skeptical about doing the show. Kourtney confirmed this and went on to admit that during the first season she was particularly camera shy.
However, now the mother of three seems much more on board with filming and has even launched her own lifestyle and wellness website called Poosh.
Kourtney Also Struggled Filming The Last Seasons Of Keeping Up With The Kardashians
Many avid Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans will know that in the last few seasons of the show, Kourtney found herself frequently arguing with her sisters over her involvement in the show and her priorities, suggesting that she wasn't always particularly happy or as invested in doing the show as much as the other family members.
One of the most famous altercations included a fight with her sister Kim, where things escalated so much that they became physical with one another. In the scene, Kourtney was seen lashing out at Kim in retaliation to her remarks about her work ethic. Kim then stands up and the fight escalates, where she is even seen slapping her sister in her face at the end of the scene. Khloe then manages to separate the two.
Another instance involved a fiery family debate involving Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Kris, regarding her boundaries for filming the show and what she feels comfortable sharing. Soon after the debate starts, the tension between the sisters becomes abundantly clear, with feelings of frustration lingering in the air among Khloe and Kim, before Kourtney gets up and walks out of the room.
Things got so intense for Kourtney that she actually quit the show in 2020. Her reasoning behind her decision was that the show was toxic for her. Due to the fact it was taking up so much of her time, the reality tv star felt as though she has no privacy or time to herself.
