Kourtney Kardashian Once Quit 'Keeping Up With The Kardashian'

In March 2020, Kourtney announced that she had quit Keeping Up with the Kardashians. "I have been filming the show non-stop for 14 years," she told Vogue Arabia of her decision back then. "I was feeling unfulfilled and it became a toxic environment for me to continue to have it occupy as much of my life as it was. Privacy is something I have come to value and finding that balance of private moments with being on a reality show is hard. People have this misconception that I don't want to work, which isn't true. I am following my happiness and putting my energy into that which makes me happy."

The decision came after a physical altercation with her sister, Kim Kardashian. "I feel like it's been a lot of built-up resentment from Kourtney, or just feeling like she doesn't really want to film anymore. She's not the type of person to make a decision and say, 'OK, guys, I'm not going to film,'" the Skims founder told Jimmy Fallon of Kourtney's exit. "But she would come to work with an attitude every day and take it out on everyone, from the crew to us, and wouldn't really make that decision. So we would kind of just keep on pushing her to figure out why she was so unhappy." As it turned out, the mom-of-three just needed her work-life balance.

Speaking about the filmed fight, Kim said that it caused them to shut down season 18 production. "I don't really ever resort to violence like that, but she scratched me so hard, which you guys didn't see. I was bleeding. You didn't really get to see that detail, but when I looked down at my arm and I saw she had really scratched me and I felt it all on my back, I just went over and slapped her back," said the billionaire. "Kourtney and I obviously are fine now, but we shut down production for a week after that. I think everyone was really shook for a minute and just was like, 'This isn’t our type of show. What's happening? We want everyone to be comfortable and safe.'"

Kourtney Kardashian Isn't Happy With Some Edits On 'The Kardashians'

Kourtney is obviously back on reality TV with their new show, The Kardashians. However, the reality star still has some issues about filming the show. During a confessional interview, she claimed that the edits weave an "old narrative" that "doesn't really exist," and that her engagement episode should have been "empowering" — getting her "fairytale love story" after leaving a toxic relationship. "We like film and have the best time ever, and then we've been watching the edits and we're just so annoyed because they're like swirling us in with this drama," she explained.

"Especially when I saw my engagement episode, editors or whoever is taking it as like, 'Let's take Kourtney. She's the chosen one to be the drama," she continued. In that episode, it seemed like Kendall was questioning her "empathy" for Scott. Kourtney then revealed that all the family members are executive producers in the show, so they get to change these cuts going forward.

The entrepreneur previously said that it was also the editing that caused her to quit KUWTK. "Shooting our show, it became a really toxic environment at the end for me. I would fight with my sisters," she shared. "There was, like, just a lot going on. And even for me personally, I wasn't in the happiest place. I felt like I was being almost a character. This is Kourtney, and she's in a bad mood, so even though she was laughing really at lunch, we're going to cut out the laughing and let's only use the annoying comment that she said."

'The Kardashians' Producer Predicted Kravis' Vegas Wedding

Executive Producer of The Kardashians, Ben Winston has established a great work relationship with the clan. He's previously talked about working around their boundaries and has even predicted Kravis' Vegas wedding. "I saw Kourtney and it actually crossed my mind because she was there with Travis and I was thinking, 'Oh, I hope they don't get married in Vegas without us,'" he said at the time.

Kourtney later revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that it was only a "practice" wedding. "There was no possibility to get a marriage license at that hour," she said. "We asked five times. What do we have to do to make this happen? It was 2 a.m. and they were like, 'It opens at 8 o'clock. We just did it anyway. It's what's in the heart." The two eventually had a courthouse wedding and a grand ceremony in Italy.
