Ever since Lady Gaga first rose to fame, there have been millions of fans that supported the highly talented performer at every turn. There are several reasons for that including Gaga’s outspoken support for the LGBTQ+ community, her incredibly catchy music, and her willingness to take chances. For all of those reasons and many more, it seems incredibly likely that Gaga’s career will continue to thrive in the years to come and she will be considered a legend in the end.

Even though Lady Gaga has been almost entirely celebrated by the masses, it is very clear that several of her fellow stars have had pretty big problems with the singer in the past. For example, Madonna infamously feuded with Gaga following accusations that the younger star had ripped off the elder star’s style and music. Unfortunately, Madonna isn’t the only celebrity who has called Lady Gaga out in the past as a notable star once brutally insulted her in a very public way.

The Truth About Lady Gaga's Feud With Kelly Osbourne

From the outside looking in, it seems like there was absolutely no reason for Lady Gaga and Kelly Osbourne to ever have any notable interactions, let alone out and out feud with one another. However, Osbourne was a part of the show E!’s Fashion Police for several years and in that role, Kelly took many shots at other celebrities that could be quite mean at times.

Given the fact that the entire point of E!’s Fashion Police was to feature the show’s hosts and guests mocking the stars, it certainly seems like it was all meant in good fun. However, when Osbourne referred to Lady Gaga as a “butterface”, it didn’t sit well with a lot of the singer’s fans and they began coming for Kelly on social media.

The Feud Between Lady Gaga And Kelly Osbourne Intensifies

Even though it was perfectly valid for Lady Gaga fans to feel like Kelly Osbourne went too far when she called the singer a “butterface”, that doesn’t make two wrongs a right. As a result, it was pretty disturbing when Osbourne told the British publication Fabulous how far some of Gaga’s fans had gone. “They’ve said I should kill myself, that they hoped I get raped. I mean it’s crazy but I’ve had this all my life and I just try and ignore it,”

Once word of her fan’s conduct got back to her, Lady Gaga wrote an open letter to Kelly Osbourne that she published on her website. While it is important to note that Gaga apologized for the way her fans treated Osbourne even though she can’t control what they do, she also took Kelly and her show E!’s Fashion Police to task.

“I have empathy for you Kelly, but I feel it culturally important to note that you have chosen a less compassionate path. Your show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature. It glorifies you and Joan Rivers pointing in the camera, laughing, and making jokes about artists and celebrities as if we are zoo animals.”

Unsurprisingly, Lady Gaga’s public letter didn’t go over well with Kelly Osbourne and she responded to it in a tweet. “I hope you guys realize that I don't care about any of this bulls**t! I know who I am I don't need anyone to tell me!... love to all xoxo” On top of that, Kelly’s mom Sharon Osbourne called Gaga a “hypocrite” and “bully”.

Did Kelly And Lady Gaga Resolve Their Feud?

Given the fact that Kelly Osbourne calling Lady Gaga a “butterface” was the brutal insult that started their feud, it would have been great if things never got worse than that. Sadly, that wouldn’t be the case and when Gaga tried to put their feud behind them, Osbourne lashed out in response. In October of 2013, Lady Gaga made an appearance on Sharon Osbourne’s show The X Factor UK around the same time Kelly was celebrating her birthday. In an attempt to put all of the tension aside, Gaga presented Sharon with a birthday cake celebrating Kelly’s big day. Even though giving Sharon a cake for Kelly’s birthday didn’t make all that much sense, it still seemed like a nice gesture.

Instead of thanking Lady Gaga for the gesture and trying to put their feud aside, Kelly Osbourne pointed out how illogical it was on Twitter. “Not to be ungrateful but why would you send me a birthday cake via my MOTHER in a country half the [world] away? #JustSendItToME #LoveNotWar,” Gaga then responded to Osbourne in a tweet of her own explaining “@KellyOsbourne I didn't know it was your B-day until this afternoon. Meant as a peace offering. Happy Birthday.” Sadly, Osbourne’s posted a second tweet with a photo of the cake and an extremely vulgar hashtag that was directed at Gaga. #EatMySh-t #Hypocrisy.”

Considering how poorly Lady Gaga’s attempt at making peace with a cake went over, it makes sense that a lot of fans assumed that she and Kelly Osbourne would always be enemies. As it turns out, however, the two stars would suddenly reveal they were cool. Ultimately, Gaga and Osbourne reportedly put everything aside after they talked in person when both attended Elton John’s Oscars party in 2014.
