Movie franchises are all the rage these days, and studios want nothing more than to get a lucrative franchise started. Some franchises, like the MCU, are based on comic books, while others, like the Fast & Furious movies, got their start on the big screen.

The Lord of the Rings franchise jumped from the pages to the big screen during the 2000s and conquered the entertainment industry. Amazon's upcoming show has potential, and it would benefit from some classic characters coming into play.

Let's look at some legendary characters who should appear on the show!

8 Treebeard Being Around Would Be Fantastic

It is really hard to imagine a Lord of the Rings show taking place during the Second Age and Treebeard not being featured at some point. Sure, Treebeard might not be a primary character in the grand scheme of things, but this would be a great way to show a bit of the history of the Ents while also tying the new show into the previous movies that fans enjoyed years back

7 Isildur's Inclusion Could Be Impactful For Fans

If there is one thing that fans of the franchise would love more than seeing Tom Bombadil on screen, it would be seeing Isildur in the upcoming series. This is, after all, the man that was able to get the One Ring away from Sauron and who inevitably failed to destroy in the fires of Mount Doom while Elrond looked on in horror. His inclusion on the show would make things extra spicy.

6 Legolas' Age Makes Him A Possibility

We might be going out on a bit of a ledge with this particular character, but it is important to keep in mind that there is some ambiguity about his age. As we got to see in the Hobbit movies, Peter Jackson and the franchise itself clearly see the value that Orlando Bloom's Legolas brings to the table, so it could be possible that Legolas at least makes an appearance in the upcoming series.

5 Sauron Would Be Given A Ton Of Depth As A Character

There is absolutely no way that Sauron is going to be kept out of Amazon's upcoming series, and there is hope from a lot of people that the show will do an exceptional job of really digging into who he is as a character. There is a lot about Sauron that casual fans don't know, and the show has an amazing opportunity to really flesh out one of the most infamous villains in the history of fiction.

4 Galadriel Would Be An Amazing Addition To The Show

Galadriel is a character that fans would absolutely love to see, especially if Amazon is able to shell out the big bucks and get Cate Blanchett on the board to reprise the character. There is a lot about Galadriel that could really be touched on with this series, and even if she isn't heavily featured, seeing her on-screen would be a breath of fresh air for fans.

3 Gandalf The Grey Would Make The Fans Happy

Gandalf Is one of the most iconic characters from the Lord of the Rings franchise, and at this point, it seems like the expectation is for him to at least appear on the show, even if it is just a cameo. Again, Gandalf is a character that has a long and storied history in Middle Earth, and it would be really fascinating to see how he was handling things during the Second Age.

2 Elrond Would Be Younger And Would Give The Show Depth

Elrond is a popular character that was played brilliantly by Hugo Weaving in the original trilogy, and we have already mentioned him earlier in this. Elrond has had a hand in some of the most famous events in the history of Middle Earth, and seeing a younger version of him in the midst of the Second Age could add a layer of depth to what fans got to see in the original trilogy.

1 Tom Bombadil Had Better Be Included

Let's be real, this is the character that every single fan wants to see. Even though he doesn't really play a huge part in the overall story, Tom Bombadil is nothing short of a legend in the fandom. If the folks making this show really want to appeal to the fans, then they will do anything and everything to ensure that Tom Bombadil is featured.
