Hot Ones has enjoyed so many memorable moments. Sean Evans is a major reason for the success, but major props goes to the guests as well. Those wings look hot, but not for the guest that we're going to discuss in the following...
This particular guest came across as one of the best at handling the wings. Fans for the most part agree that DJ Khaled was among the very worst ever, while the likes of Dave Grohl are regarded as the most underrated.
However, in the following, we're going to put the spotlight on a singer that handled her appearance with so much composure. She calmly discussed her album at the time, while even making mention that she thought the wings would be hotter. We'll take a look back at the memorable interview, while also featuring other guests that handled the wings with pure class.
Lorde Casually Spoke About Her Album And Other Topics During Her Hot Ones Appearance
Lorde became the first-ever guest to appear on Hot Ones from New Zealand. The episode was hit on YouTube, receiving 5 million views. Topics of conversation were quite diverse between host Sean Evans and Lorde, onion rings were discussed, along with her youthful days and inspirations for her music. Speaking of those very inspirations, Lorde discussed her album at the time, Solar Power, and how it all came about behind the scenes.
“I basically thought of the album as a sun worship album. I’m not religious in any way, but my experiences in nature the last couple of years were as close to what I had experienced as religion, so it was like a sort of devotional record for me.”
She continues, “This year has brood IX, which is this big kind of boom of cicadas once you reached 17 years,” Lorde said. “The last time it happened was in 2004 when I guess JLo and Ben Affleck were together and now they’re back together, so people are like, brood IX is in the air, so I guess I am right on trend with my cicada moment.”
Fans were blown away by the conversation and how composed the artist was able to remain throughout the interview, even when Da Bomb was brought into the equation.
Lorde Made The Wings Challenge Look Extremely Easy, While Host Sean Evans Struggled
Lorde was concerned about the darkness of Da Bomb's bottle. As she bites into it, Lorde makes a casual face and mentions, "it is kind of bitter," while causally admitting she didn't like it. She proceeded to take a look at the bottle casually, while Sean Evans was blown away as to how composed she was. Lorde would continue on answering Evans' next question, as if nothing happened.
The moment can be seen below at the 14:00 minute mark.
As expected, Lorde received serious praise from the fans for her performance.
"Sean looked more in pain than she did. What a G," one fan writes.
Another fan notes that Lorde stated in another interview that she expected the wings to be hotter, "I would just like you all to know that last night in Toronto, when asked about Hot Ones mid show, Lorde declared it was fun and then cheerfully, WITH TOTAL SINCERITY, added, "I thought the wings would be hotter!" LEGEND."
"She handled that so much better than anyone else, that was epic. She was cleaning the meat off the bones after the show was over. I don't think anyone else has done that. I love how that was just a culinary adventure for her. Just wonderful all around."
A great guest and without a doubt, among the very best at handling the wings of death.
Lorde Wasn't The Only Hot Ones Guest That Got Through The Wings Easily
"Look at us, look at us," without a doubt remains one of the best moments on the show, between Paul Rudd and Sean Evans. Hot Ones featured many memorable guests for all the right reasons. According to ScreenRant's list, among the best guests at taking down the wings include Jeremy Renner, Charlize Theron, Padma Laskshmi, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Elijah Wood and many others.
Jennifer Lawrence was another guest to appear most recently, and one the fans had nothing but praise for given how well she did, while answering her questions upbeat as per usual. However, Jennifer mentioned that she faced a different reality after the show, and one that was not nearly as pleasant. Lawrence struggled with stomach pains. She had just enough time to go upstairs, and the rest was not all that great...
“I passionately threw up after — violently. My stomach gave me like 8 minutes to get upstairs and then woah.” Entertaining the fans definitely comes with struggles behind the scenes...
