“It was a strange thing to finally not feel like I was in control,” the pop icon disclosed on Monday, March 4, while performing at The Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. “I have fallen off a lot of horses and broken a lot of bones. I have a titanium hip. I mean, the list goes on and on, but nothing can stop me.”

“This summer I had a surprise,” Madonna, 65, told the audience, referring to the bacterial hospitalization that left her hospitalized for weeks while preparing for the world tour, which she had to postpone.

“It’s called a near-death experience. Yes, and I’m not kidding. It was pretty scary,” the Grammy winner went on. “Obviously, I didn’t know for four days, because I was in an induced coma. But when I woke up, the first word I said was ‘No.’ Anyway, that’s what my assistant tells me.”

Since Madonna has been a legendary part of the pop music world for several decades, it makes sense that she earns a considerable amount from touring.

The singer even said she had an encounter with God during the coma, but didn’t feel like it was her time yet. “I’m pretty sure that God was saying to me, ‘Do you wanna come with us? You wanna come with me? You wanna go this way?’ And I said, ‘No. No.’ No!’” she recalled.

Later during the performance, Madonna thanked D.r David Agus for helping her make a speedy recovery. The physician was in the audience and had a beaming smile on his face during Madge’s call-out.

“He’s put up with so many entertaining phone calls from me,” Madonna said humorously. “When I was sick this summer and I literally couldn’t walk from my bed to the toilet, I would call him every other day and ask him why I didn’t have any energy. ‘When was my energy gonna come back? When was I gonna feel myself again? When could I go back on tour again?’ When, when, when, when, when, when, when? And all he would say was, ‘Go outside in the sun.’”

In October, the singer also opened up on stage about how terrifying the ordeal was, which happened last summer. She credited her six children - Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, David, 18, Mercy, 17, Estere, 11, and Stella, 11 – for motivating her to pull through.

“I didn’t think I was gonna make it. I forgot five days of my life — or death, I didn’t really know where I was,” Madonna said. “But my children were there — and my children always save me every time. I have got to be there for my children – I have to survive for them.”
