With an estimated net worth of $850 million, it's no wonder pop icon Madonna has an enviable property portfolio. When the "Material Girl" singer had children, her interest in real estate grew. She welcomed her first child, Lourdes in 1996 with actor Carlos Leon. In 2000, the Grammy winner had son Rocco, 22, with director Guy Ritchie. Madonna later adopted David, 17, Mercy, 16, and twins Stella and Estere, 10.Depending on her tour dates and commitments to her children, Madonna moves from one house to another. In 2017, she moved to Portugal. The "Vogue" singer relocated to Europe to support her son David in his pursuit of a football career. She purchased the historic Quinta do Relógio estate located in Sintra, Portugal, about 20 miles outside the capital Lisbon. The massive 16,146 square foot Moorish revival home was built in the 18th century and has 4-bedrooms and 7-bathrooms. She paid a hefty price an estimated $8,927,470 for the property. But in 2019, Madonna admitted that living in Portugal had left her feeling lonely. She explained: “I moved to Lisbon to be a soccer mom. I wanted to be a soccer mom. I thought it would be adventurous. But I found myself alone, without friends, a little bit bored.”In 2021, Madonna decided to return to La La Land and purchased a nine-bedroom house in April 2021 for $19.3 million. She reportedly bought the mansion from musician The Weeknd. But like every woman, we have the right to change our minds...
Madonna Isn't The Easiest Neighbor To Live Next To
In 2010, Madonna was threatened with a fine after a loud party at her London home led to angry complaints from neighbors. Staff at her central London home hosted a karaoke party with friends and turned up the volume while the singer was away. But as the booze and music flowed, angry neighbors complained and called Westminster Council noise pollution teams.
Enforcement officers arrived half an hour later and ruled the music blaring from inside was a "statutory nuisance". They spoke Madonna's staff through the intercom and ordered them to turn down the volume. They refused to let them in and told them the owner was away. The following day officers handed staff another notice addressed to "the owner".
One neighbor told The Mirror: "It was just boom, boom, boom all afternoon. There was a lot of singing but in the end it was so bad we were forced to call Westminster Council. The chances are it would have gone on all day otherwise." A source close to "Queen Of Pop" said: "Madonna likes a good party like anyone else but she is respectful of her neighbors and doesn't like to upset anyone. She was absolutely furious when she found out."
Madonna Is Looking To Make a $7 Million Dollar Profit From Her Hidden Hills Mansion
In 2021, Madonna purchased a nine-bedroom home in Hidden Hills, California, from The Weeknd for $19.3 million. But earlier this year, Madonna decided to put the luxurious mansion back on the market. The music artist listed the property for $25.995 million — a big jump from what initially paid in April 2021.
The home is located in a guard-gated area set on nearly 3 acres and includes a barn with a newly built gym and dance/Pilates studio. It comprises 12,500 square feet of living space with 11 bathrooms, a home theater and a music lounge.
Before selling it to Madonna, The Weeknd owned the property for almost four years, purchasing the estate in 2017 for $18.2 million. He first listed it in 2020 for $25 million before dropping the price to just under $22 million, according to Dirt.com.
Madonna Rented A Home in Beverly Hills During The Pandemic
Although Madonna and her children stayed in Portugal for the first few months of the pandemic in 2019, she eventually began renting a Beverly Hills home. The mansion had originally been designed by Paul Revere Williams for Bert Lahr in the early 1940s. Lahr famously played the Lion in The Wizard of Oz.
The house has a two-lane bowling alley, a games room, a home theater, and an outdoor tennis court. It has since been lived in by some of Hollywood's most well-known figures, including Betty Grable, Paul McCartney, and the Osbourne family.
