Margot Robbie's feet are stealing the show these days. This is because, in the days leading up to the Suicide Squad star stepping out to attend a movie premiere, she revealed a strange request Quentin Tarantino made of her feet. And despite Robbie's tremendous talent, her tootsies were all anyone could talk about.
On Wednesday, Robbie attended the New York premiere of Past Lives. The I, Tonya star opted for a vintage look with a camel-colored business suit. (See the outfit here.) The oversized blazer and pants looked flawless with a black bralette underneath. The look was casual cool, complete with black peep-toe shoes and Robbie's blonde hair effortlessly cascading down her back.
While the film or the attire should have been the talk of the night, for some, it was instead the recent interview that Robbie gave to Vogue, outlining the foot-fetish request she had on the set of Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood.
The Foot-Fetish Request Quentin Tarantino Made Of Margot Robbie
Robbie was cast to play Sharon Tate in Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, in one of her best transformations. Tate was known for having an affinity for going barefoot whenever she could. And to make the film as realistic as possible, Tarantino requested the same for Robbie. A move which required the Birds of Prey star to keep her feet dirty, versus washing them in between scenes.
"... My character walks into a movie theater to see herself on the big screen and she kind of kicks off her go-go boots and puts her feet up and settles in to watch the movie," Robbie explained.
She went on to say, "But my feet were dirty because I'd been walking around set. They stayed dirty in the movie because Quentin said, 'Don't. Don't clean them.' Someone ran in to do it, and he was like, 'No. It's real. Keep it.'"
This sparked rumors of Tarantino having a foot fetish. A rumor that the director could have cared less about.
"I don't take it seriously," Tarantino said. "... Like before me, the person foot fetishism was defined by was was Luis Bunuel, another film director. And Hitchcock was accused of it, and Sophia Coppola has been accused of it."
Tarantino may have a point, given the uproar Robbie's feet sparked in Barbie.
How Margot Robbie's Feet Sparked Foot-Fetish In 'Barbie'
While Barbie has yet to be released, the trailer for the film has. And when it was, Robbie's feet caused shock and awe, not to mention a full on conversation about the Babylon star's feet.
As Robbie steps out of her pink bejeweled shoes in the trailer, as Barbie, a role that was originally Amy Schumer's, her feet stay perfectly arched just like the Barbie dolls does. Not only were fans amazed at the control it took to do this, they were quick to bring out the foot fetish comments as well.
"Margot Robbie has made me develop foot fetish," one Twitter user stated.
Another user said, "The Margot Robbie foot fetish community gotta be some of the happiest people on earth..."
"Margot Robbie's feet really about to make me buy a ticket to Barbie," a third user commented.
It appears as though Robbie's feet, fetish and all, are here to stay for the time being. The question is, will her next film have her showing off her trotters? Only time will tell!
