This past season of Married at First Sight has definitely been an interesting one. Every single couple had tons of drama going on in their marriages and each one of them came to the point where they almost called it quits. The experts tried their best, but it seems like they might have messed up with most of the matches this time. Three out of the five couples chose to get divorced on decision day and one of the couples who chose to stay married still ended up getting a divorce a couple weeks later.
Pretty much every marriage ended in disaster this season. But there's one couple who surprised everyone and despite everything they've been through, they are still together. Let's take a look at who this special couple is and how they got through season 13 of Married at First Sight.
7 Jose And Rachel Seemed Like They Truly Found Love At First Sight
As soon as Jose saw Rachel, his jaw dropped and his eyes lit up. And the moment Rachel saw Jose she couldn’t stop smiling. If you didn’t know they were getting married at first sight, you would have never known that they hadn’t met before. They seemed like they were already in love when they saw each other. Jose and Rachel’s wedding day was one of the best days the couple had during season 13—they seemed completely happy the entire day and they started to learn why the experts matched them.
6 Jose And Rachel Were The First Couple To Say “I Love You”
Once the wedding was over, Jose and Rachel officially began their life together as husband and wife. They went to Florida for their honeymoon along with the other couples and spent their time there getting to know each other more. The whole experience was like a dream come true for them and they seemed to grow in love more every day. The honeymoon lasted for about a week and then Jose and Rachel had to go back to real life with their new spouse. But the romance didn’t stop there. Even after they moved in together and started their life together, they were still constantly touching and kissing each other. Things seemed to keep going in the right direction and they ended up being the first couple to say “I love you” after a few weeks.
5 But Jose And Rachel Realized They Have Some Differences (Especially With Finances)
Everything was perfect for a while, but after they began to get to know each other more, they realized they have some differences. No two people are exactly alike, but for a relationship to last, the couple needs to be on the same page with what they want in life and what they expect from each other. Jose and Rachel seem to want the same things, such as having a family and travelling. But the biggest difference they have is how they handle their finances. That can cause problems later on because it can affect how they raise their future kids and how they travel. They also learned that they handle conflict very differently, which can end up being a huge issue.
4 Jose And Rachel Had A Huge Fight And Jose Locked Rachel Out Of Their Apartment
Remember how we said how Rachel and Jose handle conflict differently? Well the couple clearly learned that when they had their first big fight. During episode 10 of season 13, Rachel accidentally called Jose by the wrong name when they were out on a date and Jose started yelling and cursing at Rachel when they got back home. A producer was there with them during the fight, so Rachel walked her out when she left. But when Rachel tried to go back into their apartment, she found out Jose locked her out. She was up all night trying to find a place to stay. Rachel tried to talk it out with Jose when he finally let her back into the apartment, but he was reluctant to apologize and was barely talking to her. During the episode, Rachel told Jose, “I don’t feel like that you’re remorseful at all. I don’t feel that you’re apologetic at all and yeah, I cannot be your wife.” Everyone thought that was the end of the road for them.
3 Jose And Rachel Chose To Stay Married On Decision Day
After Jose and Rachel’s big fight, everyone, including themselves, thought their marriage was over. But they worked through it together and chose to give their marriage another chance. While Jose and Rachel definitely discovered that they have some differences, over time they also realized why the experts chose to match them. According to Distractify, the experts, Dr. Viviana Coles, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pepper Schwartz “believe that their similar backgrounds and interests may overcome the problems.” They have the same core values, which has helped bring them closer and helped keep them together. The couple decided to stay married on decision day because they both care about each other and want to try to make their marriage work.
2 Jose And Rachel Took A Break Soon After Decision Day
During the season 13 reunion, Rachel and Jose revealed that they took a break a little while after they decided to stay married. They moved into Jose’s apartment after decision day and soon after that, they started arguing a lot. They couldn’t handle constantly arguing, so they decided to take a break and see if it would help to be apart for a little while. It seems like the break did help them since they seem to be doing better now and are still married.
1 Jose And Rachel Are The Only Couple From Season 13 Who Are Still Together
Jose and Rachel are the second couple to say yes on decision day, but they’re the only ones who stayed together after that. Myrla and Gil were the other couple who decided to stay married on decision day. It only lasted for about two weeks and then Myrla asked for a divorce. They didn’t have any huge problems, but Myrla admitted she just wasn’t attracted to Gil and didn’t see herself with him. Fans think it was cruel of her to do that since Gil gave up his apartment to stay married to her. All of the other couples’ marriages ended in disaster too. But Jose and Rachel surprisingly ended up being the couple who stayed together. There’s rumors they might have broken up in October of this year, but nothing’s confirmed. As far as we know, they are still together.
