- Jennifer Aniston denied Paul LeBlanc's claim.
- Matt LeBlanc has a unique relationship with both Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.
Widely considered to be one of the best sitcoms of all time, Friends is so beloved that the show's cast will always be closely associated. Part of the reason for that is the stars of Friends became rich after banding together to negotiate extremely lucrative deals.
Since Friends ended, Matt LeBlanc's career has continued to take off and he has become even richer. With that in mind, it should be clear that LeBlanc is his own man aside from his famous co-stars. Still, it is shocking to learn that there are rumors which claim LeBlanc feuded with his costars, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry.
Did Matt LeBlanc Ever Feud With His Friends Co-Stars?
In an ideal world, everyone would get along fine with their co-workers. However, this isn't an ideal world and lots of people can't stand at least one of their co-workers.
Throughout television history, there have been several examples of co-stars who famously feuded. Some examples of that include Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, Kiefer Sutherland and Freddie Prinze, Jr., as well as William Shatner and George Takei.
According to at least one person, Matt LeBlanc and one of his former Friends co-stars belong on that list too. In a surprising twist, it is someone very close to LeBlanc who made that explosive claim about the stars of Friends.
In 2015, Radar Online interviewed an extremely unlikely person, Paul LeBlanc.
When Paul LeBlanc spoke to Radar Online, he claimed that his famous son thought that Matthew Perry was an "a*****e". More than that, Paul LeBlanc went further by claiming that Matt LeBlanc wanted to fight his Friends co-star.
"He wanted to pound on Matthew a couple of times." Given how much LeBlanc and Perry's Friends characters loved each other, it is shocking to read about Paul LeBlanc's claim.
As for David Schwimmer, Paul LeBlanc commented on their relationship too. While Paul LeBlanc didn't claim his son wanted to fight Schwimmer, he did make it seem like they didn't get along at times. According to Paul LeBlanc, Matt LeBlanc found Schwimmer to be "kind of dry, a bit too serious".
Are Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, And David Schwimmer Actually Friends?
Over the last few decades, it has become increasingly common for tabloids and gossip websites to quote so-called insiders. In many cases, the stories based on insider comments turn out to be true and in others, they are completely false.
Given that insiders are used as sources, it certainly seems like the reports about LeBlanc feuding with his Friends co-stars should be taken seriously. After all, a lot of people tell their parents things they would never reveal to the rest of the world. With that in mind, LeBlanc's father should have a lot of credibility as a source.
However, if observers look into things a little bit closer, it makes a lot more sense to take Paul LeBlanc's statements with a huge grain of salt. One reason for that is one of Friends' stars has directly denied Paul LeBlanc's past statements.
When Paul LeBlanc spoke to Radar Online, he also claimed his son had a relationship with Jennifer Aniston. "They would make out in the dressing rooms. He told me about it, it was when she was married to Brad Pitt." As Radar Online reported, Aniston completely denied that claim Paul LeBlanc made.
It also is worth noting that by the time Paul LeBlanc spoke to Radar Online, he'd had a falling out with his son. Years later in 2021, Paul LeBlanc told The Sun that he hadn't had a relationship with Matt LeBlanc for nine years at that point.
“I’ve been living without any contact for nine years and it is still hard to believe what has happened. I’ve been cut off and locked out of my house over a humiliating argument about money and a motorbike. I’m an old man now and I live off social security. If it wasn’t for my savings, I wouldn’t be able to survive."
During that same interview, Paul LeBlanc claimed fame and fortune made his son a worse person.
Finally, based on what is known about Matt LeBlanc, there seems to be a lot of evidence he is close with Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. A perfect example of that is the fact that Schwimmer once defended and praised LeBlanc publicly.
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, David Schwimmer looked visibly uncomfortable when the show’s hosts were gossiping about Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry. At one point during the interview, Stern’s co-host Robin Quivers suggested that LeBlanc was “out of control” based on a National Enquirer article.
When Stern followed up on that by asking Schwimmer if LeBlanc was out of control, the Friends star instantly refuted that claim. “Not at all. That article was complete lies. In fact, that guy who wrote the article, or who called and wanted to be in the paper and report on Matt. He actually called Matt and his publicist to say ‘Wait until you see what I did to you, man.’”
After Schwimmer initially defended LeBlanc, Stern followed up with a question bringing up the character Joey from Friends. “Matt ain’t really that stupid as he is in the show, right?” After already defending LeBlanc, Schwimmer then went on to praise his former co-star. “He’s a great guy. He really is.”
There also is a lot of evidence that LeBlanc and Perry are also close friends. One example of that is LeBlanc saying Pery is like his brother in 2015. "Matthew's like my little brother, and David's like my big brother."
During an interview for the Television Critics Association, LeBlanc spoke extensively about his bond with Perry.
"I saw him yesterday. I could not see him for five years, and then put me in a room with him, and it will be like I saw him yesterday. We still have this shorthand with one another. It’s amazing, really. Ten years in a building with no windows, with the door locked, we got to know each other pretty well. I love that guy."
At the end of the day, LeBlanc, Perry, and Schwimmer are the only ones who know the truth about their relationships. However, based on the publicly available evidence, it seems unlikely that they ever feuded
