Over the last few decades, it has become commonly known that most celebrities have had procedures done to look the way they do. For proof of how prevalent having procedures done is, Jennifer Aniston has gotten some work done despite being against plastic surgery.
Unfortunately for anyone who wants to look like the stars, the procedures stars like Sharon Osbourne have undergone have been very expensive. Just like other stars who've had their teeth fixed like Taylor Swift, Matt Rife likely paid a lot of money for his signature smile.
Why Is Matt Rife Famous?
Up until recently, most of Matt Rife's current fans had never heard of him and had no idea who he is. In 2023, The New York Times interviewed Rife who revealed that only a year earlier, it seemed like his comedy career was reaching a dead end.
“Last July, I was in Montreal for a festival I was not invited to. I had to fly myself out, put myself up for no pay. I was sitting there at dinner with my friend and my manager. I’m about to post this video of crowdwork. I was watching it, and I was like, This is so stupid. Why am I even doing this?”
Fortunately for Rife, however, he is a hilarious comedian and he knows how to put together clips that are easy to consume on social media. As Rife explained to The New York Times, a clip of him onstage which he titled "The Lazy Hero" on social media changed everything for him.
“That video did 20 million views in two or three days. It became this massive chain reaction and an explosion of an audience. From then on, every video I posted went viral.” Thanks to what that video started, Rife now has 16.6 million followers on TikTok and 5.3 million on Instagram.
According to The New York Times, Rife's online success has transferred to real life as well.
"When he announced his 'ProbleMATTic World Tour' last month, he sold out 260 dates in North America, Europe and Australia in 48 hours. The flurry of sales — 600,000 tickets in all, each ranging between about $50 to $95, according to Live Nation — crashed the Ticketmaster website. Some resale tickets cost more than $500."
How Much Did Matt Rife's Fake Teeth Cost Him?
Every year, there are many examples of stars who've suddenly shown up in public looking noticeably different. In most of those cases, the celebrity in question had some kind of procedure done which is nobody's business but their own.
Even though it isn't anyone else's business when a celebrity changes how they look, these situations can feel pretty silly. A perfect example of that is when a celebrity's face suddenly looks very different and they insist that they haven't had anything done.
Of course, in some cases, the star in question is telling the truth as their face looks different due to a weight change, an injury, or something else like that. However, most of the time when celebrities deny going under the knife, everyone knows they aren't telling the truth. It actually is pretty common for those stars to later admit to having minor procedures done.
When Matt Rife rose to fame thanks to social media, the fact that the videos he uploads are hilarious was the main reason for that. There also was no denying that Rife's good looks also played a notable role in his sudden success since he is often referred to as hot in articles and comments.
Since Rife's looks are being celebrated, some fans have paid a lot of attention to how he comes across in videos. With that in mind, it makes sense that not long after Rife became a big deal, fans started to notice that he has incredibly good teeth.
First off, Rife's teeth are so white that they look like they are brand new. On top of that, there aren't any gaps in Rife's teeth and they appear to be perfectly shaped as if they came off of some kind of factory line.
Unsurprisingly, it turns out that Rife's teeth don't look the way they do now naturally. As online detectives quickly figured out by comparing current footage of Rife to old photos of him, the comedian had work done.
As it turns out, anyone who sought out old photos of Matt Rife to compare his current teeth to, wasted their time. The reason for that is unlike most celebrities, Rife fully admits that he had extensive work done on his smile.
In 2018, Rife went on Instagram and lavished praise on the dentist who transformed his smile, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi. Later during a 2022 appearance on Bert Kreischer's podcast, "Bertcast", Rife revealed that Dane Cook and Jo Koy were the ones who recommended Maddahi to him.
In the past, Rife has also revealed that Maddahi added veneers to his front eight teeth. According to Rife, the process of having the veneers cemented to his real teeth was very painful, but it was totally worth it.
Since there is no doubt how Rife's smile was transformed, that means that fans who want to have the same smile as Rife know what they have to do. However, there is a question those people still may want to know ahead of time, how much will they have to pay?
On Dr. Kourosh Maddahi's website, there is an entire page dedicated to how much veneers cost. Despite that, the page doesn't actually give readers precise prices to get veneers installed. Instead, the page allows potential clients to seek a consultation which will allow them to get an estimate.
Fortunately, however, Maddahi's website gives potential customers some information about what they can expect to pay. First, the website does this by illuminating the typical range of prices that veneers cost.
"In Beverly Hills, CA, prices for porcelain veneers can range from $1,000 per tooth to $3,500 per tooth depending on where you go. You may also hear that some dentists only want you to do 4 or 6 dental veneers for your smile makeover, and others think that you need 10 or 12 teeth done."
Later on the same page, Maddahi included a section dedicated to why clients need to go to someone like him if they want to have good results. "If it’s going to last it has to be done right,"
Between the implications of that section and the fact that Maddahi offers financing options, the work Rife got done obviously was very expensive. In all likelihood, Rife spent tens of thousands, if not more, but it has to be noted is just an educated guess.
