Mathew’s Assistant Made Several Phone Calls After Finding Him Deceased
According to TMZ, Mathew’s assistant found him after his passing and made several calls after reaching out for medical help, including to his mother and father, one of his siblings, and a final call to a “mystery woman” who’s reportedly unrelated to the actor.
For now, the identity of the person who was called hasn’t been confirmed nor has the assistant’s reason for placing the call.
Though it’s been reported that Mathew died of cardiac arrest while using a jacuzzi at his home (shortly after completing two hours of Pickleball), the details are vague. Law enforcement confirmed that while no illegal drugs were found on the premises, there were many prescription medications.
Sources told TMZ that the residence contained antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and a COPD drug - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This medication is typically prescribed for individuals with emphysema or chronic bronchitis (the actor was a known in smoker in his lifetime).
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is set to perform a toxicology examination to ascertain the presence of any substances in Mathew’s system, though it could take months for the results to come in. “In cases where the cause of death cannot be determined at the time of autopsy, a deferred certificate will be issued until additional studies have been completed,” the LA coroner’s guidelines state.
