Donald said of the moment in a past interview with CNN, "I went crazy. I was actually supposed to meet somebody else," Trump recalled with Larry King. "There was this great supermodel sitting next to Melania. I was supposed to meet this supermodel. They said, 'Look, there's so and so.' I said, 'Forget about her. Who is the one on the left? And it was Melania."
"It was a great chemistry and energy," Melania concurred. "We had a great time. We started to talk. And, you know, something was there right away."

“It was unusual for her to go out; she never went to clubs or bars,” Paolo Zampolli, president of ID Models revealed. “She never dated anyone in New York before Donald. She only went to movies by herself and to the gym. “This is a woman who modeled for Camel cigarettes on a huge billboard in Times Square but stayed home all the time,” Zampolli said. “She was not a party girl.”
Agreeing to a date with Donald was a rarity for Melania. The gamble worked as according to the former First Lady, the two instantly hit it off.
"I was struck by his energy," Melania said. "He has an amazing sense of vitality."

During an interview on the Megyn Kelly Show podcast, Donald opened up about his relationship with Melania. Donald had a lot to say, but he especially appreciated how independent she was, and private.
“She’s doing very well. She’s very strong. Very even-keeled,” Trump replied. “And she’s a very good woman, as you know.”
"She’s a very calm person. It’s very interesting. And I think that’s what people like about her. Our dinners are nice. Dinners are like other people’s dinners. We get along. We actually get along very well."
Trump continued on discussing Melania's self-confidence.
“She’s introspective,” Trump said. “She doesn’t need to be interviewed by you to get ripped apart for no reason. She doesn’t need to be out there. She’s got confidence. She’s got a lot of self-confidence.”
Trump continues, "She’s a private person. A great person. Very confident person. And she loves our country very much. At the appropriate time, she’ll be out there.”
Donald and Melania have been married since 2005, nearing two decades.
