Over the last decade, Michael B. Jordan has been building himself up as one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood. Between landing a slew of major roles in movies like Fruitvale Station, Black Panther, and Creed, Jordan has proven that he has the skills to portray a wide array of characters.
Given how incredible it is to see Jordan take Hollywood by storm, it is very gratifying to see Creed III despite the controversy surrounding Sylvester Stallone not appearing in the movie. After all, Jordan's career reached a whole new level with Creed III since he starred in, directed, and produced the film.
When Jordan took the opportunity to helm his first movie, he decided to cast Jonathan Majors as his onscreen antagonist in the film. When fans got the chance to see Creed III's first trailer, it was pretty obvious why Jordan cast Majors since he looked so intimidating in it.
Of course, lots of actors opt to co-star with people they don't get along with behind the scenes. With that in mind, some fans have been left asking, how does Jordan actually feel about Majors in real life?
What Has Jonathan Majors Said About Working With Michael B. Jordan?
By the time Creed III was getting ready to be released, Jonathan Majors had become a huge topic of conversation in Hollywood. There was one main reason for that, Majors was cast as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Kang, the character who is set to be the franchise's major villain going forward.
Given that Majors is set to be at the center of the highest-grossing film franchise in history, it would make sense if people only wanted to talk to him about that. In theory, that could have been a huge problem for everyone involved with Creed III. After all, if the media only wanted to talk to Majors about the MCU when he was trying to promote Creed III, that would hurt the boxing movie.
Thankfully for everyone involved with Creed III, however, there were a lot of headlines that came out of Majors' promotional tour that focused on the boxing movie. The reason for that is Majors said something about his relationship with the movie's star and director that got people talking.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2023, Majors revealed just how much he values his friendship with Jordan and his comments made it clear the men have become very close.
While speaking about Jordan, Majors remarked, "We have a very amicable relationship that's my best buddy".
Majors then went on to talk about how he and Jordan support each other no matter what either of them is going through.
"We support each other on a day to day, so, if it's Marvel it's Marvel that day, if it's girl troubles, it's girl troubles that day -- whatever, whatever. He's my brother."
When Majors was making Creed III, he had to work extremely hard to be in amazing shape. When people adopt an extremely taxing workout regimen, that can easily take a toll on their attitude and mental well-being.
When Majors was in the gym getting ripped for Creed III, he easily could have been frustrated with Jordan. After all, Majors had to put in that incredibly hard work to look amazing for Jordan's movie.
On top of that, there are many examples of actors who've gotten into fistfights with their directors in the past. With all that in mind, Majors and Jordan easily could have ended up as enemies after making Creed III together.
That makes Major's comments about Jordan being his "best buddy" all the more meaningful.
Of course, just because Majors has spoken about Jordan in such glowing terms, doesn't inherently mean that Michael has wonderful things to say about his relationship with Jonathan.
What Has Michael B. Jordan Said About His Relationship With Jonathan Majors?
In addition to what Jonathan Majors told Entertainment Tonight about his relationship with Michael B. Jordan, the Kang actor has spoken highly about his friend on other occasions. One example of that is when Jordan got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Majors was there to celebrate his friend.
While giving a speech about Jordan during the Walk of Fame ceremony, Majors started by saying, “First, I love my brother.” From there, Majors went on to praise Jordan by speaking about people looking up to Michael.
“When I move around Mike — ... or Creed or Donnie or Michael B. Handsome or Sexiest Man Alive, Adonis — I’m reminded of the tale of Hercules. The story of a young man who was born as a mortal ... Michael, to me represents a mythical character. I don’t think it’s an act of luck or an act of chance that so many people see him as [his ‘Creed’ character] Adonis.”
Majors then went on to speak about how he invited several young black students to see Creed III because he felt Jordan "represented us in the best way possible." Majors also spoke about the time he injured himself on the set of Creed III and how Jordan rushed to tell him "Everything’s gonna be OK,".
“That’s the guy I know, and that’s the guy I’ve come to love,” Majors said. “Today, brother, you go from man to god. You sit amongst Olympus and ... no man on the planet I know deserves it more.”
After Majors spoke, Ryan Coogler stood up to speak to the kind of person Jordan is as well. By the time Jordan took to the stage to accept his star, he was so touched by what his friends and peers said about him that he appeared to be fighting back tears. Jordan then went on to call Majors his "brother" which says a lot about the respect the two men share.
“Thank you to my brother, Jonathan Majors, for joining me on this ‘Creed’ journey, supporting me here today, getting me all teary-eyed and s—. ... It was a true honor to watch you and your genius every day from behind the camera in a way that you made it harder for me to hop in front of the camera and sock you in the face every once in a while.”
On top of expressing his love for Majors during the Walk of Fame ceremony, Jordan made it clear that he wants to work with Jonathan going forward. When Majors and Jordan took part in a joint interview with the New York Times, they both expressed that they want to keep collaborating together.
After Majors remarked that he wants his working relationship with Jordan to be like "De Niro and Pacino", Jordan spoke about why he wants to consistently collaborate with Jonathan.
"We’re excited about that, and I have those conversations with him. Acting is such a solo journey, where you’re fighting for your place on that call sheet for such a long time. So when you’ve got somebody that doesn’t care as much about that stuff, it’s like, 'Let’s go. How much damage can we do together?' "
