Growing up in the entertainment industry is difficult for all stars, and they have wildly different experiences. Some child stars stay in Hollywood, others venture into other careers, and some fall on hard times. It's a mixed bag for these youngsters as they grow up.
Miranda Cosgrove was one of many kids from the '90s and 2000s that grew up on Nickelodeon, and things have worked out well for the actress. That said, being on the network wasn't always easy while growing up.
Let's hear what Miranda Cosgrove had to say about growing up on Nickelodeon all those years ago.
Miranda Cosgrove Has Been In Acting For Years
Having been in the acting business since she was just a kid, millions of people are familiar with Miranda Cosgrove and what she's achieved during her years in entertainment. The star has had an impressive career, and her recent return was met with love from fans.
The star made a huge splash as a youngster in School of Rock, and from there, things began to take off for her. She would subsequently appear in other movies, notably the Despicable Me franchise as Margo.
As great as that is, Cosgrove has done her best work on Nickelodeon. This began with her time on Drake & Josh, where she was a hilarious as the boys' little sister, Megan. From there, Cosgrove would land the lead role on iCarly, one of the most beloved shows of its era. It ran for 6 seasons and nearly 100 episodes, leaving a lasting impression on audiences.
In what came as a surprise to many, the beloved Nickelodeon show made a huge return in 2021, and it's been thriving ever since.
She Made A Major Return To 'iCarly'
Miranda Cosgrove and the majority of the original cast all returned for the iCarly reboot, and so far, things have been going smoothly for the show. It's earned some solid buzz, and at this point, we are already two seasons into things.
Now that she's a seasoned performer, things were different this time around for the lead actress.
"I feel from this experience in particular, I've learned a lot of things really fast that I never knew about before. I'm getting to help edit all the episodes. I've never edited anything in my life. So just even seeing all the behind the scenes things, even talking to the set designers from the very start, figuring all that out and seeing how they put the sets together. These are all things that I've never done before. So it's just been a real learning process and I've really enjoyed every second of its," the actress said in an interview.
It's amazing to see how things are now for the show and for Cosgrove, who grew up on Nickelodeon. As you can imagine, this wasn't always an easy thing for the star.
She Shared What It's Like Growing Up On TV
So, what was it like for Miranda Cosgrove to grow up on television? Well, ads great as it was at times, the star changed a lot during her time on Nickelodeon, something that wasn't always easy to deal with.
"I think one of the most challenging things growing up making iCarly, I went through my awkward phase and completely grew up on the show," she told People.
She then talked about how weird it is knowing people are watching you go through awkward phases.
"So when I look back at all the episodes, even though I remember the fun times and I can laugh, sometimes when I see the outfits I'm wearing, I just know how I felt during those moments in some of the episodes. It's so weird to think that when you're a kid growing up on TV, people are watching you go through all that awkward stuff and figuring out who you are," she added.
It's refreshing to hear the star sneakingly candidly about growing up on TV, especially with her positive outlook. Some child stars are not as lucky, and they have difficulty looking back at their time on TV.
Her former iCarly co-star, Jeannette McCurdy, for instance, had a rough time as a child actor.
"It just was hellish, I think, is not too intense of a word," the actress once said when describing her acting days.
ICarly just wrapped up its second season, and if things go as planned, it will return for a third. This would be great news for fans, who love what the reboot has brought to the table.
