Hulu's breakout show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was one of reality TV's biggest hits last year. The first season followed a group of young Mormon mothers who worked as social media influencers, collectively known as "MomTok." After the major fallout of a scandal that involved swinging among the couples in the group, the friends found their relationships and means of earning a living at stake.
By the end of Season 1, there was a question of whether all of the cast members would be returning for Season 2. One of the most controversial figures of the cast, Whitney Leavitt, later agreed to return after threatening to exit. Now, it seems, there is yet another addition to the cast in the form of one of the women's ex-best friends.
Miranda McWhorter Is Joining The Cast After Turning Down Season 1
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 1 showed the way that the MomTok friend group was susceptible to fracturing. Often arguments between the members would result in the group being divided, usually due to drama that Whitney started. Other times it was main member Taylor Frankie Paul who was at the center of the drama — she's also the one who is credited with beginning the swinging scandal, as she was the one to open up about it on social media.
Now that the show has blown up in popularity, it's not surprising that other cast members would be included for the sophomore season. We've since learned that the latest addition to the cast is a woman named Miranda McWhorter, and she's far from a stranger to the MomTok universe. In fact, Miranda joins the show as an old ghost coming back to dredge up old drama and set the record straight. That is, the teaser for the show explains that she's Taylor's "ex-best friend" who has plenty of tea to spill about the swinging scandal.

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Joins Vanderpump Villa S2 As MomTok Star Forms Instant Connection With Employee
The trailer for the upcoming second season of Vanderpump Villa shows the stars of two Hulu reality shows getting very close. Here's what we know.
Miranda is also a young Mormon influencer who was formerly married to a man named Chase (they split sometime in 2024), with whom she shares two children: a son, Brooks, and a daughter, Cohen. When it comes to her social media and online presence, she often goes by the name "Miranda Hope." Miranda exited the group after the swinging scandal, apparently having had a falling out with Taylor, and fans will note that she was completely absent from Season 1 of the show, even in the old TikToks that were used in footage for the episodes.
Rumor has it that Miranda was invited to join for Season 1, but that she turned it down because of tensions with Taylor. She explained on a podcast episode of "The Weekly Trash" (as reported by Swooon) that she and another former MomTok member, Camille Mundy, passed on the offer so as not to expose themselves to even more scrutiny:
Camille and I had multiple interviews or calls... She and I agreed that it just [gave us], like, a pit in our stomach, every time. For our lives, it just didn’t feel right at all. I already got exploited on the internet without my consent. You think I’m gonna ask for that?
In the teaser for the second season, however, Miranda is seen telling the cameras that she's come to share the truth about what, exactly went down with the scandal — and how it started in the first place.

Here's What To Expect On The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Season 2
The #MomTok influencers are back with new drama and new pregnancies.
Miranda's Ex-Husband Has Already Opened Up About Their Swinging Arrangement
Miranda won't even be the first one in her family to speak out about the swinging scandal, it would seem. Her ex-husband Chase already shared in previous interviews how their arrangement initially started, explaining that it was something that originated during COVID and then gradually morphed into something more extreme.
Chase shared that what began as casual group hangs would eventually escalate, saying that people would “get trashed on alcohol, and then, like, these games would come up. Spin the bottle or whatever." At the time, he said, he thought of them as "party games" and little else.

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Jen Affleck And Zac Affleck's Relationship Timeline
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives continues to explore the dynamics of the women of MomTok and their husbands. Here's more about the Afflecks.
Chase went on to explain that he and Miranda never thought of the swinging as anything very serious, and certainly not something that would cause the end of romantic relationships. That's why, he noted, they were all the more caught off guard when Taylor took to social media to out their arrangement as something more official:
[It was just] stuff that you’d probably just get through and experience in college or high school. But I don’t really ever think anyone thought, ‘We’re gonna eventually, like, switch and then have sex with that person.'
Only time will tell if Miranda's own appearance on the season will confirm Chase's statements. Though Taylor has previously referred to her ex-best friend as a "liar," fans will surely want to hear what she has to say about the situation. Beyond that, there is plenty of other drama to look forward to in Season 2, not the least of which is the status of Taylor's own love life. At the end of Season 2, she and her then-boyfriend Dakota welcomed a baby together, but since then, the pair have broken up, and the trailer features a concerned Taylor talking about Dakota's potential issues with substance addiction.
Other drama will surely revolve around Whitney's return to the friend group, as well as another member, Jen, and the tension she faces with her own husband, Zack. Fans will recall that Zack, though financially reliant upon his wife's work as a social media influencer, was simultaneously unsupportive of her career. The season ended with their family moving to New York, taking her away from her home base and from the rest of MomTok.
Season 2 of the show premieres on May 15th on Hulu.
