The new Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi may be focused on Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (and their highly anticipated onscreen reunion), but Moses Ingram is clearly its breakout star. On the show, she plays Reva Sevander, a.k.a. the Third Hunter, who is hell-bent on capturing Obi-Wan for Darth Vader. She also happens to be the reason that Obi-Wan finally discovers that his former student was still alive.RELATED: Why Ewan McGregor Decided It Was Time To Return To Play Obi-Wan KenobiMeanwhile, beyond Obi-Want Kenobi, it is unclear if Ingram will have the opportunity to reprise her character again. If you ask the actress, however, she would love to stick around in the Star Wars universe for as long as possible.

Who Is Moses Ingram?

Ingram may be new to the scene, but she’s been making her presence known since she made it to Hollywood. Before making her debut in the new Star Wars series, the Baltimore native had already starred in the critically acclaimed Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit. She has also acted alongside Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand in The Tragedy of Macbeth. Soon after, Ingram also got cast in Michael Bay’s latest action flick Ambulance.

Her journey to Hollywood is also an interesting story in itself.

How Moses Ingram Became The Next Big Thing

Back in 2012, Ingram was a freshman at Baltimore City Community College She wanted to be an actress, but she wasn’t sure how to go about reaching her dreams. One student adviser discouraged her from it but the next adviser, Nana Gyesie, was willing to help. “He never minimized my dreams. He dreamed with me,” Ingram recalled. “And then he brought it down to layman’s terms and was like, ‘Let’s come up with a plan to get you where you want to be.’ And that’s what we did.”

Ingram gave it everything she got. Eventually, she also joined Yale’s graduate program, delivering a stunning performance as the lead character Viola in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night during her final year. A month after graduating, Ingram also landed her role in The Queen’s Gambit.

“I was just a kid and Moses is a woman, truly, and I think that gives her a confidence and a gravitas that you can feel onscreen,” the show’s lead actress, Anya Taylor-Joy, said of her co-star. “I just adore watching her.” Ingram would go on to secure her first Emmy nod for The Queen's Gambit. Film roles followed soon after. And then, just like that, she made her way to the Star Wars universe.

Moses Ingram Didn’t Know She Was Auditioning For Star Wars Next

Especially after The Queen’s Gambit, Ingram was getting considered for other roles more and more. That said, she had no idea that she was already stumbling into the Star Wars universe at that point.

“Part of the casting was one really fast and intense week of auditioning,” the actress recalled. “In the first couple of days, I didn't even know it was Star Wars that I was auditioning for. I just remember thinking, 'Whatever this is, this is good...'”

And now that she’s in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ingram still finds herself in disbelief sometimes. “This is far better than anything I could have ever imagined for myself,” she remarked. “But, I love being on the dark side. It is fun.”

Ingram is also happy to be playing a character who’s never been portrayed onscreen in this universe before. “I think that made it easier for me because there was less that I had to hold on to and live up to what someone saw before,” she explained. “So I think that made it a lot easier for me.”

And while Ingram is having a good time in the Star Wars universe, the actress has also had to deal with a lot of racist hate since getting cast.

In response, the franchise has already released a statement saying, “There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist. We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist.”

Meanwhile, Ingram herself has also addressed the comments on social media. “So, I wanted to come on and say thank you to the people who show up for me in the comments and the places that I’m not going to put myself,” the actress said. “And to the rest of y’all, y’all weird.”

After Obi-Wan Kenobi, Moses Ingram Is ‘Down’ To Return As Reva

For now, there seem to be no plans to go beyond one season for Obi-Wan Kenobi. “Disney was really great at calling this a limited series event, so the only thing we know we are getting right now is this 6-part series, and I am happy with this,” Ingram explained.

“I am happy with this 6-parter and I think that's cool.”

In case they want to bring Reva back in the future though, the actress is always happy to return to the dark side once more. “I'd be down. Sure, why not? Sounds like fun,” Ingram remarked.

Meanwhile, up next for the Star Wars franchise is the series Ahsoka. Christensen is expected to reprise his role as Darth Vader once more. Perhaps, Reva can join him too.
