MTV's The Challenge is a reality show that came to be by way of two other popular MTV reality shows: The Real World and Road Rules, and seemingly exploded in popularity overnight. The original Challenge took stars from both original series' and put them in competition based scenarios. The franchise ended up being absolute gold. People loved the concept, and soon far more than former reality stars were featured on the series. Every day people were brought in to duke it out for the winning prize.
Anytime you throw money and fame-hungry folks in a situation where they have to do everything and anything to come out the winner, you are going to have tons of drama and heightened emotions. The Challenge produced some of the most interesting couples, intense battles, and epic fights in reality television history. Here are our top ten rumbles.
10 Ayanna & Christian Made History
Fiery, quick-tempered Ayanna and Christian made Challenge history when they got into a heated altercation over some comments that may have been distasteful, at least in Ayanna's option. The beef between these two led to the very first disqualification in Challenge history.
Ayanna thought that Christain made a negative and hurtful joke regarding race to fellow contestant, Laterrian. She let Christain know what she thought about his words, and the two got into it, albeit off-camera. Producers had to step in and decide what to do with the debacle. They ultimately chose to send Ayanna packing and replaced her with another contestant, Susie.
9 Steven And Shane
In the Battle Of The Sexes II installment of The Challenge, participants took part in a challenge called "Cast a Spell." The contestants were supposed to remain totally silent to have a chance at winning, and Steven used this time of quiet to put his tricks and pranks into effect.
Many team members became annoyed at the antic, and once they were allowed to speak again, Shane let Steven know his gestures were completely unnecessary. Steven then put his hands in Shane's face, Shane pushed Stevens hands away, and Steven ended up slapping Shane! Putting hands on another contestant is absolutely forbidden, and production sent Steven packing.
8 Tina And Beth
Tina And Beth gave the term "duel" a whole new meaning when they got into a war of words. The two started off chummy, but then things went south during the "Ring Toss" challenge. Per usual, words and dirty looks spiraled into physicality and punches.
Tina threw her fists towards Beth, and even though the swing was flimsy at best, the move of violence got her sent home immediately. A lot goes on this reality show, but any sort of physical altercation results in immediate ejection from the competition. In the end, Tina didn't feel bad in the least about her actions. She said that the loss was worth it ad she regretted nothing.
7 CT And David
CT is one of the most well-known competitors that The Challenge ever knew. Over the many seasons, CT established himself as a formidable force full of strength, brawn, and a quick temper. David was on the receiving side of that famous temper on the very first evening of season fourteen: The Gauntlet.
A playful wrestling match between CT and Kenny turned ugly, but those two managed to let sleeping dogs lie. CT, who was very inebriated, then asked an innocent Davis if he could take a swing at him. David gave him the go and ended up with a black eye, and CT ended up with a ticket home.
6 Tonya And Veronica
These two competitors were both seasoned players who appeared over many installments of The Challenge. Veronica appeared in thirteen seasons, and Tonya showed up for eight. The ladies started up a rivalry back during their inferno days, and their disdain for one another grew and grew until it finally came to a head.
On Tonya's final appearance, she let her anger boil over. Tonya had become tired of Veronica's bullying and let it rip, smacking her fellow castmember in the face! The two were so angry that it took several male castmembers to pull them apart.
5 Darrell And Brad
Brad had to be a bit out of his mind when he decided to poke the bear that is Darrell. Darrell is an experienced boxer, and he knows how to throw a punch. Brad must have forgotten this when he continuously insulted Darrell in The Ruins installment.
Darrell finally had enough and pummelled Brad in the noggin. After the rumble, both men had the maturity to recognize that they were in the wrong and even apologized for their inappropriate actions. While they were both remorseful, the show has a no-tolerance policy when it comes to physical violence.
4 Amanda, Laurel & Camila
Volatile women competing for cash and mass quantities of adult beverages almost always end in some kind of argument or fight. In Invasion of the Champions, Laurel tried to prank Amanda by putting chips in her bed. Amanda didn't think the prank was very funny, though, and the two started screaming at each other.
Things got even worse when Camila inserted herself into the madness. Thankfully the producers stepped in at the right time and diffused the situation before anyone got themselves kicked off of the show. All three ladies remained for the rest of the season.
3 Cory And Taylor
Father of two and former MTV Teen Mom star, Cory Wharton, is no stranger to reality television. Before starring as Cheyenne Floyd's former fling and father to two darling daughters, he starred on other reality series, including The Challenge. One evening, an inebriated Taylor decided to toss Cory's meal out of the window.
While Taylor was just playing around and had no beef with Wharton, Wharton must have really been annoyed or really wanted that pasta. He was really fired up over his missing meal. Another castmate tried to soften the tensions, but Taylor stupidly threw his arm around an angry (and hungry) Cory, causing Cory to snap and throw Taylor to the ground.
2 Melissa And Kailah
We are surprised it took as long as it did for Kailah and Melissa to throw down. These two feisty women finally took their anger and resentment for one another (which stemmed from their appearance on Vendettas) out on the very first night of The Reckoning.
Yelling at one another quickly spiraled into some pushing and shoving, and then they really started to go at it. The production team quickly got involved before chunks of hair went flying across the room, but the damage was certainly done. The ladies were sent home before completing an entire day in the series.
1 Adam And Ty
Ty loves competing, and he loves starting fights. He is a firestarter, to be sure, and that love of picking at people really exploded when he met his match in Adam. Adam is known for flying off the handle, so the two of them together were the definition of oil and water. Ty couldn't turn off his snarkiness, and Adam finally had it.
The cast tried to hold him back and cool him down, but Adam was too strong and too angry to heed their warnings. He broke free of do-gooders grips and got a punch in. The hit wasn't a bad one, but Adam did accidentally knock a nearby Mandi over.
