Discovery Channel's Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing is returning to TV for Season 3 on May 18, and it promises to be one of the toughest challenges yet. Cameras will follow 14 veteran survivalists, who must have already competed in at least two previous Naked and Afraid challenges, as they compete for a $100,000 cash prize and the honor of being crowned champion.

No Naked and Afraid challenge is designed to be easy, but heading to the Australian Outback may prove to be particularly harsh with the combination of adverse weather conditions and venomous snakes. Contestants will initially navigate these conditions without food, water, or clothing. But what do they need to do to be in with a shot at winning?

Why Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Will Push Contestants To The Limits

Ahead of the release of the new season, an official press release (via People) has given fans a clearer picture of what to expect from Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing. "Fan-favorite legends return to take on new challengers in an all-out battle of skill, innovation, and grit," the release states. "The competitor who demonstrates the best Bushcraft, ingenuity, and stamina to outlast their opponents in head-to-head, multiphase challenges."

The document also comments on the conditions that the contestants must endure, and how there will be "deadly threats and game-changing opportunities — from the highly lethal taipan snake, whose bite has enough venom to take down 100 humans, to 250-pound wild boars that could provide an ample food source to skilled hunters." There is a reason the contestants in the Outback are alums of the show: it takes bravery, determination, and skills to survive and thrive.

Who Will Return For Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Season 3?

The survivalists hoping to compete in Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Season 3 were confirmed in April as the official Instagram page for the show shared a short clip revealing who was set to take part. "You guessed. You speculated. Now it's time to see who's stepping into the wild," the caption reads. "The full cast of #NakedAndAfraid: Last One Standing is HERE — and they're ready to battle it out in the brutal Australian outback."

Among the survivalists are Matt Wright (with eight previous challenges, having survived 252 days), Max Djenohan (with six previous challenges, having survived 177 days), and Ky Furneaux (with six previous challenges, having survived 126 days). Also joining the cast are Patrick French, Trish Bulinsky, Suzänne Zeta, Kaila Cumings, Laura Zerra, Darrin Reay, Trent Nielsen, Cheeny Plante, Jamie Frizzell, and with the least experience, Kaiela Hobart (with two previous challenges and 61 days survived) and Jermaine Jackson (with two previous challenges and 35 days survived).

However, some faces who fans wanted to see return are missing, and there are others they did not want to see! "Patrick and Trish again? They're so whiny about everything," a fan commented. "I would take Trish out and put Amber instead," another shared. Other reactions include, "I support Matt Wright, I prayed for him, for a long time to be the winner!," "I'm rooting for Patrick this time," and "It's just not the same without Jeff."

Jeff Zausch saw the chatter about him and commented on the post. "Whether you love me or love to root against me… it seems many are bummed that I won't be joining LOS3," he wrote. "BUT… I'm announcing today that I will be holding a weekly podcast on Monday nights following each new episode!" Fans of Zausch will know that he has emerged victorious from multiple Naked and Afraid challenges, and hearing his comments about the contestants and their skills could provide some valuable insight into what it takes to win big.
