As per information obtained by The Blast on Thursday, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have officially christened their son Riot Rose Mayers on his birth certificate.
Rihanna And ASAP Rocky’s Whole Family Has Names That Start With “R”
This choice of name appears to pay a subtle homage to A$AP's track "Riot," which dropped in July and featured Pharrell Williams. This naming tradition aligns with their preference for names starting with the letter "R." Their first son, born in May 2022, is named RZA Athelston Mayers.
The birth certificate unveils that Rihanna gave birth on August 1, 2023, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, debunking the previous report of August 3 as the birth date. The birth occurred at 7:41 a.m.
Rihanna chose the well-known OB-GYN Thais Aliabadi, a familiar face from her appearance on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." The doctor has a track record of assisting in high-profile births, including that of Al Pacino and his partner Noor Alfallah's son, Roman.
Rihanna Only Shared Pictures Of Her Firstborn When Paparazzi Caught Them
So far, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky haven’t confirmed the recent reports about their newest arrival’s moniker nor have they shared any photos of the newborn’s face.
However, this isn’t out-of-character for the couple. Though they’re very public-facing, the protective parents didn’t share any photos of their firstborn until paparazzi caught up with them, and they wanted to release their own pictures first before the media published their photos.
In an exclusive feature for the March 2023 edition of British Vogue, the iconic singer opened up about her unwavering dedication to shielding her baby boy from the public eye.
Rihanna, who made her second pregnancy announcement following the 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance, recounted a distressing incident when unauthorized paparazzi photographs were taken of her son.
“I just went straight into protective mode. Like there wasn’t even time for rage,” she told the outlet. “As parents it just feels so icky, like a violation.”
“As we were speaking, we knew they were making calls and deals,” she went on, reflecting on how she discussed with ASAP Rocky how to handle the situation.
They eventually decided to share candid snapshots from her personal camera roll with an undisclosed blog, while simultaneously joining TikTok. On this platform, Rihanna uploaded a video of her baby boy, which has since become viral, showcasing him gurgling, smiling, and playfully interacting with his mother's phone.
“We get to decide as parents when and how we do that,” Rihanna added to Vogue. “End of story.” Since then, Rihanna hasn’t been shy to post photos of her eldest son RZA on social media, and he’s even joined his famous mom in magazine photoshoots.
However, given how protective the couple were of their firstborn, they may try to protect their youngest identity from the public as long as possible. At the very least, don’t expect photos to be released before ASAP and Rihanna have consented.
