Nick Cannon has a whopping twelve kids spread out over six women. The Masked Singer host has spent much of the past several years expanding his family. Five of those twelve kids were actually born in 2022, but the rapid expansion started back in 2017, when he gave birth to a child with baby mamma Brittany Bell. Ever since, it seems Cannon has refused to take any measures to stop a pregnancy from happening.
Though it may appear like a lot of happy accidents, Cannon actually planned to have this many children and maybe even more. He chooses to live life to the fullest, a decision which came about after he was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease lupus in 2012.
Here's how living with lupus inspired Nick Cannon to have so many children.
What Is Nick Cannon's Autoimmune Disease?
Nick Cannon is known for being a comedian and television show host. He used to host America's Got Talent before quitting the gig in 2017. Cannon then began hosting The Masked Singer on Fox, which many took as a jab at his previous employer.
While maintaining a high status of fame, however, Cannon has been suffering from an autoimmune disease called lupus. The disease specifically effects joins, skin, kidneys, the respiratory system, heart, brain, and more.
Cannon first revealed to the public that he was suffering from the disease in 2012. He has been very public about his health struggle and is celebrating 10 years since being diagnosed with lupus in early 2022. To celebrate, Cannon shared a video on The Nick Cannon Show in which he had documented his entire experience with the disease.
After the diagnosis in 2012, almost everything about Cannon's life changed. Not only did he go through plenty of treatments, but his outlook on life also changed drastically.
One view that particularly changed was family and children.
Why Does Nick Cannon Hate Using Condoms?
When Cannon was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease lupus, he was still married to singer Mariah Carey. After separating from her in 2014 and later getting a divorce, Cannon quickly became known as a baby machine.
Many fans thought these children were happening on accident, but turns out Cannon has a deep aversion to wearing condoms. This avoidance of commons is directly due to the autoimmune disease he was diagnosed with in 2012.
"I'm probably gonna die sooner than most people," Cannon opened up to Howard Stern in an interview. "So let's f*ck all night! So why wear condoms? I might not be here tomorrow."
Though a bold statement to say he never wears a condom, Cannon clarified in July 2021 during his radio show, that he does not simply gamble by not wearing a condom.
"I'm having these kids on purpose. I don't have no accident," he said. Cannon practices consensual non-monogamy, and he chooses the mothers of his children very wisely.
"Trust me, there's a lot of people that I could've gotten pregnant that I didn't. The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant."
How Many Kids Does Nick Cannon Have?
For six years, Nick Cannon was happily married to singer Mariah Carey. They were married in 2008 and separated in 2014, with their divorce not finalized until 2016. During that time, the couple had non-identical twins Moroccan and Monroe.
After being diagnosed with lupus and divorcing from Carey, however, Cannon realized that life is short, and he wanted to enjoy the time he had. That meant having a lot more children.
In total, Cannon as 12 children spread out across six women. Other than Carey, Cannon has had children with model Brittany Bell, radio personality Abby De La Rosa, model and influencer Alyssa Scott, star of Selling Sunset Bre Tiesi, and model and actress LaNisha Cole.
Brittany Bell was the first woman to give birth to one of Cannon's children after he divorced from Carey. Their fist child Golden was born in 2017. Their second child Powerful was born in 2020, and Rise was born in late 2022.
Abby De La Rosa, like Bell, also has three children with Cannon. Twins Zion and Zillion were born in 2021, and Beautiful was born in November 2022.

"We just respect that that's your family, this is ours, and you need anything, we're here... I feel like, as adults, our kids are gonna be together and things like that, so I don't think there'll ever be an issue."
LaNisha Cole gave birth to her first child with Cannon in September 2022, naming him Onyx.
Five of Cannon's twelve kids were born in 2022.
Will Nick Cannon's Disease Effect His Children?
With all the struggle and complications Cannon has endured due to his autoimmune disease, it stands to reason that the television show host does not want any of his 12 kids to suffer as he did. It seems like they likely will not have to.
Thankfully, lupus is not a hereditary disease, meaning the disease itself will not be passed on to his children.
There is a chance, though, that some genes could be passed down which would give his children a higher risk of developing lupus somewhere down the line. This would cause health complications for Cannon's kids, but the chances of this occurring is relatively slim.
Still, Cannon is certainly remaining on top of his children's health and watching for any early signs of the autoimmune disease.
