Nick Cannon has become infamous for his large family, and even though he’s a multi-millionaire, it has sparked questions over how he can afford to keep having kids in such short succession.

Nick welcomed his first children, twins Moroccan and Monroe, with his then-wife Mariah Carey in 2011. He went on to welcome a son, Golden, in 2017, a daughter, Powerful, in 2020, and a son Rise in September 2020 with Brittany Bell.

He also welcomed twin sons with DJ Abby De La Rose in June 2021, the same month he welcomed a son, Zen, with model Alyssa Scott. However, the infant died only months later from a brain tumor.

Nick went on to welcome a son, Legendary, in July 2022 with model Brie Tiesi, and then a daughter, Onis, in September 2022 with LaNisha Cole. Abby De La Rose gave birth to their third child, a daughter in November 2022, while Alyssa Scott is now expecting their second child together (which will by Nick’s 12th).

With so many children to support, and a reported net worth of $20 million, it’s expected that Nick’s child support payments are high. Here’s everything we know about how much he pays towards his children.

Nick is currently a father to eleven children, which means that his child support payments are high. After The Sun released a report claiming he pays $3 million in child support, Nick responded to say his payments are even higher.

“I definitely spend a lot more than [$3 million] on my children annually,” he said in November 2022.

“I don’t plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child.”

Why Nick Cannon’s Child Support Bill Will Likely Increase

Nick is currently expecting another child. Alyssa Scott announced she’s pregnant against in October 2022, which will be her second child with the comedian following their infant son’s passing in December 2021.

It’s not just the fact that another baby is on the way that suggests Nick’s child support bill is going to get higher. The comedian hasn’t commented on whether he plans to slow down. He’s faced backlash for having so many children in such a short time frame, with critics saying he won’t have enough time for all his kids.

Nonetheless, Nick has defended his untraditional family.

"I've seen where people believe a traditional household works, and [yet] there's a lot of toxicity in that setting," he told Men’s Health in June 2022. "It's not about what society deems is right. It's like, what makes it right for you? What brings your happiness? What allows you to have joy and how you define family?”

Nick continued, “We all define family in so many different ways."

The television personality has shared his belief that monogamy is a social construct, suggesting he doesn’t practice it.

"That's a Eurocentric concept when you think about the ideas of you're supposed to have this one person for the rest of your life,” he said of monogamy.

“And really that's just to classify property, when you think about it. When you go into that mindset, if we're really talking that talk, the idea that a man should have one woman — we shouldn't have anything. I have no ownership over this person."

Nick continued, "It's about what exchange can we create together. I've never really subscribed to that mentality. I understand the institution of marriage if we go back to what that was about. ... I don't have ownership of any of the mothers. We create families in the sense of we created a beautiful entity."

The television host took a vow of abstinence in 2021, and even admitted he was considering a vasectomy. But the promise didn’t last long, as Nick has welcomed several children since. If the last few years are any indication, Nick isn’t done expanding his family.

Nick doesn’t just pay child support – he also flaunts how much he spoils his kids and their mothers. When she was pregnant with their third child, Nick bought Abby De La Rose a brand-new house to live in.

However, Nick’s behavior – including any decisions to spoil his kids – may be motivated by guilt. Now that he’s a dad-of-three, the comedian has admitted to feeling stretched thin as well as experiencing guilt for not having as much time as he wants for all of his kids.

Though its usually smooth sailing with the mothers of his children (at least publicly), Nick was recently called out by Brie Tiesi for his alleged lack of involvement. She also accused Nick of faking photo opportunities with his kids.

It’s not easy but I have to do it for my daughter,” she wrote. “She is incredibly blessed and is surrounded by so much love–and it’s not fake IG photo op love–it’s real day in and day out love.”

Maybe the recent conflict and Nick’s own feelings of guilt will keep him from expanding his family further (and thus not make his million-dollar child support payments any higher).
