Olivia Munn Has Struggled With Fibromyalgia For Several Years
Olivia Munn revealed she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2019 during an interview with People Magazine.
“I wasn't really sure what was going on with me," Munn explained. "I was going through a lot of different ailments for years and not knowing what was happening.”
With the help of a team of five doctors at UCLA, the actress discovered that the cause of her discomfort was fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disorder characterized by intense musculoskeletal pain, muscle fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues.
Upon her diagnosis, Munn had to radically change her lifestyle to avoid feeling worse.
“My situation was at a place where it was like, 'You're either going to go down a path where you're going to get multiple autoimmune diseases, or you have to stop now and we can try to get you better,'” she explained.
“It was like, 'These are your choices.' And so I had no choice, I was feeling so bad. I had to really listen to the doctor's orders and cut all these things out.”

Fortunately, Munn’s condition improved greatly thanks to her lifestyle and habit changes. When she spoke to People in 2021, she said:

Fans Applauded Olivia Munn For Sharing Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis
While she’s learned to live with fibromyalgia over the years, Olivia Munn’s health has worsened over the years due to other diseases. Earlier this year, Munn announced that she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy.
“It started with having my first mammogram, but then that was clear,” Munn revealed in a heartfelt interview where she opened up about her terrifying cancer diagnosis.
“But I had heard about the Broca Gene and I had also heard about these tests that can test you for a lot of other cancer genes. So, I took the first test and it was clear, it came back negative for all cancer genes we tested for.”
However, the doctor told her to do a risk assessment test just to be sure. “She did it right there in the office and she turned around and said, ‘You know, your score is pretty high, it’s 37.3% and I want you to get an MRI.”

Unfortunately, they didn’t have good news. After doing a couple of biopsies, Munn was told she had Luminal B cancer—an “aggressive, fast-moving cancer” in both breasts. Luckily, the doctors caught the cancer “with enough time that I had options,” she said, explaining why she ended up getting a double mastectomy.
