Brad Pitt has built an extensive tattoo collection over the years of his career. However, questions about his ink got very awkward, including his time on Oprah. In July 2022, to promote his action film Bullet Train, the Hollywood star showed off his mysterious leg designs.
Brad Pitt Has A Tattoo Dedicated To His Ex-Wife Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt broke gender stereotypes by wearing a skirt for the premiere of Bullet Train. Fans of the film star caught a glimpse at the designs on both of his legs: a rhinoceros on the right and a human skull on the left. Aside from that, the Fight Club star has some ink in honor of his now-ex-wife Angelina Jolie. On his right bicep, the Academy Award winner has a quote by poet Rumi.
Pitt got the matching tattoo with Jolie in 2014, it reads, “There exists a field, beyond all notions of right and wrong. I will meet you there.” The tattoo also includes an image of a shadow man. Pitt reportedly chose the phrase before he married the mother of his six children. On his right forearm, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star has his entire family’s initials, including his kids and Angelina.
Brad Pitt And Oprah Were Confused By A Fan's Question During Their 2008 Interview
In 2008, Brad Pitt appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show with Cate Blanchett, his co-star in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Lucky fans of the hunky actor were able to ask they screen idol questions through Skype. One such viewer congratulated Pitt on "finding love with Angelina Jolie," his then-partner. The inquisitive fans then asked the 58-year-old about his tattoos.
Pitt has a stomach tattoo as a nod to Jolie's birthday as well as an inscription of her and their children’s initials on his right forearm. The former couple share six kids together: Shiloh, 16, Zahara Marley, 17, Maddox, 21, Pax, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt, 14. "If you have a partner ... it's a great thing to go do together. It becomes personal and special in its own right. I'd rather just leave it at that," answered Pitt, but it wasn't enough for the fan, who asked, "Even the iceman?"
Confused, Oprah asked the fan what she meant by that, and the fan then went on to describe a number of Pitt's tattoos. Pitt has an inner left forearm tattoo which is said to be the outline of Ötzi the Iceman. It is Europe’s oldest natural human mummy according to the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology. Otzi the ice man was found in the Italian Alps in 1991 and is roughly 5300 years old. The fan finished by explaining that "I've been a fan for about 17 years." She told Pitt that she knew about the tattoo on his "tummy" before exclaiming "Don't make me go there!" To which Pitt laughed and stirred uncomfortably in his seat.
Brad Pitt Considers Himself To Be In The 'Last Leg' Of His Career
It's hard to believe, but Brad Pitt was born in the same year – 1963 – as JFK was assassinated. The same year that the USSR sent the first woman into space. It was also the same year The Beatles released “I Want To Hold Your Hand." Earlier this year, the 58-year-old opened up about the entertainment industry in his candid cover story interview for GQ Australia. "I'm behind the camera on the producing side and I enjoy that a lot," the actor told the outlet.
"But I keep doing less and less. I really believe that overall it's a younger man's game – not that there aren't substantial parts for older characters – I just feel, the game itself, it'll move on naturally. There will be a natural selection to it all. I consider myself on my last leg, this last semester or trimester,” he said. “What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”
After fan uproar about the star leaving the silver screen, Pitt later clarified his comments. The movie legend assured fans he’s not going anywhere and was merely explaining that he’s “never been a five-year plan kind of a guy." He told Deadline: “I was just saying, I’m past middle age and I want to be specific about how I spend those last things however they may be. I’ve never been a five-year plan kind of guy. I’m just, whatever feels right for the day. I still operate that way.”
