The Golden Bachelorette has unfolded in a rather unexpected way among reality TV dating shows, and the dynamics involving the male contestants are one major reason.

Pascal Ibgui was one of the standout contestants and a fan favorite, and his abrupt "self-elimination" in the third-to-last "Fantasy Suites" episode stunned both Joan and the audience.

Pascal wasn't just a fan favorite, either — in our coverage of Wednesday's "Men's Tell All," we looked back at comments made by Pascal's roommate Greg Lassen.

Greg said he was "in love with half of the guys in the house," but had a special connection with Pascal:

"He's just such a cute guy and not like anybody I would've normally met. The first night we were having these conversations, and we stayed up really late.

"Of course, if I'm overly tired, that's when the snoring really happens, so yeah, I woke up to Pascal leaning over me hitting me with a pillow. I volunteered to go sleep downstairs."

When Pascal left the show, he made a lot of candid statements, and most recently, he talked about how he'd prefer younger women as contestants if he were The Golden Bachelor.

Pascal Has A Lot Of Thoughts On The Golden Franchise

This week, we covered Pascal's recent observations on why The Golden Bachelorette was afflicted with unique "dealbreakers" when compared with The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.

Pascal put it bluntly, but not unfairly, asserting that contestants on The Golden Bachelorette weren't in the same position as their younger counterparts:

"I said from the beginning, if you take a 25 to 30-year-old kid who doesn’t have a pot to pee [in], doesn’t own a car, who are in between jobs, who rent an apartment, who’s looking for an identity … it’s easy to say, ‘Hey, I’m going to move to LA, I’m going to move to New Orleans, and we’re going to make a living together.

"But when you are like me, established, I have a business, I have real estate, I have my friends, I have my routine, I have my health club, I have my connection … I ain’t going to move anywhere."

That didn't mean Pascal thought the franchise was a total bust.

He had some feedback for producers, suggesting the Golden versions be organized by locale, which is actually a decent idea:

Chicago’s got 13 million people. You tell me you can’t find 25 widowed or divorced people in that age group?

However, Pascal expressed another viewpoint backstage at this week's Tell All, and spoke with US about the "age limit."

Pascal described himself as "old," but said he wasn't necessarily interested in older potential partners were he the next Golden Bachelor:

"They will have to lower the age. The age [has] got to be lower. Yes, I’m old, but I don’t go out with a 72-year-old woman."

Pascal is 69, and he told the magazine he's "not closing the idea" of being the next Golden Bachelor.
