Bryton Constantin may have escaped Perfect Match this season without too much controversy, but a fellow reality star from a different Netflix show is coming for him, alleging he has expressed discriminatory beliefs.
Sophia Layne, best known for competing on The Circle US season 3, released a series of statements on her Instagram account, claiming Bryton has made homophobic and transphobic statements.
Sophia Layne Claims Bryton Said Offensive Things
"Let's talk about Bryton [Constantin] from Perfect Match," she said in a video posted to her account. "For the record, I have never met this man… thank god. I have never talked to him via DM, nothing. If you don't know, my name is Sophia. I was on season 3 of The Circle, and I'm a lesbian. Why that's important? Please hold."
"[Within] the 'Netflix reality universe,' word travels fast,” she continued. “There is not a lot of us, so things get around. Having said that, here are just a few things that other queer talent for Netflix have come forward and said that this man has allegedly said.”
Sophia proceeded to include a variety of statements she claims Bryton made, including: "If a trans man hit on me, I would punch them in the face," "Being trans is a mental illness," "Gay men aren't real men," "Bisexuality, yeah, doesn't exist," "and The LGBTQ community doesn't deserve."
Layne alleges plenty of other offensive things Bryton has said, though she wouldn’t reveal them all. She went on to claim that her intention isn’t to pressure Bryton into believing differently or acting better but simply to expose his (alleged) true nature.
"I know that there is nothing that I could say or do to try and beg him to apologize or change his ways. He's going to be like this forever. That's not what I'm here for,” Sophia said.
Sophia Wants Netflix To Hold Bryton Accountable
She also hopes to influence Netflix to reconsider having Bryton on future shows. Aside from Perfect Match, he started out on Squid Game: The Challenge.
"I am here to demand that Netflix comes forward and listen to all of the queer people who have come to you, who are posting publicly, who have talked to producers and said, 'Hey, this guy is saying these things, it's making me uncomfortable, it's hurting our entire community,’” she concluded.
In a second video, she emphasized her desire to hold Bryton accountable, saying, "Get him the f*ck out, ok? If you are going to continue to cast queer people on reality television shows, you cannot cast people like him… point blank, period. If you accidentally do cast people like him once, you know, I get it. Maybe they didn't say those things.”
She added, “There [were] no red flags in their interview. But then you have multiple people come forth and say things and then you have proof of him saying things. Yeah, you get them the f*ck out. You don't put them on a second show, you know?"
For now, Bryton has not responded to the allegations.

The Circle is a reality competition show initially conceived as a British series until this American adaptation launched on Netflix in 2020. In The Circle, players live in temporary apartments separate from one another. They must communicate through a custom-made social media platform for the game show to win $100,000. Players can lie and present themselves however they wish, allowing them to cheat the rankings to be rated higher by other contestants. If a contestant is "blocked," they are removed from the game. Once eliminated, the true identity of a player will be revealed to the remaining contestants.
