Not too long ago, Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian seemed to be going strong. But they surprised fans in August when they called off their relationship after nine months together. Though they seemed amicable at first (and rumors of a reconciliation have been swirling), Pete appears to have a new perspective on dating the reality star – and he may have some regrets.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, a source says that the comedian realizes their relationship wouldn’t have worked out in the long-term.

Pete Had A “Clean Break” From Kim After Splitting Up

“While Pete was torn up when the split first happened, he has had some time now and is in a much better place with it. He sees that they were clearly not meant to be,” the insider explained. Apparently, the Saturday Night Live star felt they’re not just from “two different worlds, but more like two completely different universes.”

As for a reconciliation, the source says that the chances are slim, consider Pete and Kim aren’t even communicating. “Pete does not talk to Kim now, and they pretty much had a clean break,” they said.

Conflicting Schedules Weren’t The Only Reason For The Break-Up

When it was first reported that Pete and Kim had gone their separate ways, conflicting schedules were given as the main reason for the split. One source told E! News that their work commitments "made it really difficult to maintain a relationship."

Still, the source emphasized the pair parted on good terms, saying they have “a lot of love and respect for each other.”

However, there’s also been speculation that Kim’s conflict with her ex-husband Kanye West also factored into her break-up with Pete. The rapper made a series of online rants against the couple. At one point, he vowed to win Kim back and encouraged his fans to berate Pete if they see him in public. Kanye went so far as to release a song, “Eazy,” in which he admits he’d like to “beat” Pete. He also made an animated music video for the song showing himself burying the comedian alive.

The Yeezy founder has continued making bizarre posts online, despite Kim and Pete’s break-up. Recently, Kanye taunted the SNL star for getting a tattoo featuring the initials of his and Kim’s four children.

Reports previously said that Pete has entered trauma therapy following Kanye’s harassment.
