Pete Davidson might be an SNL legend, but the comedian is ready for the next step in his career. He loves comedy and always will, but the 31-year-old has been wanting to branch out for a while, and after the release of his new movie, Riff Raff, he finally decided what he wants to do next.

Pete's professional decision follows a few years of intense personal change and growth, and he now feels ready to take more risks in the roles he plays and the kind of projects he works on.

During an interview with E! News, Pete Davidson opened up about what's next in his acting career, and it's a completely different direction from what fans are used to. The movie clearly opened up his eyes to new paths, and he's excited about what's next for him.

"I would love to do more serious stuff. It's a lot of fun. I'm really enjoying it," he explained.

He wants to take on new roles, as he's tired of always being cast for the same kind of part.

"Usually, I'm the pothead friend or the guy that helps the guy get the girl in the movie. So, to be able to hold a gun and play a serious guy was a lot of fun for me."

In Riff Raff, Pete plays a depressive man named Lonnie, who is the protégé of a hitman named Leftie, played by Bill Murray. This crime-comedy follows the life of a retired criminal and how his past haunts him. It's a far cry from Pete's time on Saturday Night Live, but it opened a door for him to explore other talents, and it makes sense that he would want to continue pursuing this.

The Recent Changes In Pete's Life

This change in Pete Davidson's career direction didn't come out of the blue. Pete has been going through many changes personally, so it's not surprising that his professional life would follow suit.

In 2024, Pete checked into rehab and has been on a path of self-improvement since. He firmly believes that rehab was an important thing for him, not just because of his struggle with substance abuse but also because of his mental health.

"I have to get my meds readjusted all the time because I have, in between bipolar and borderline, and like PTSD and s*** from my childhood," Pete said in an interview with Charlamagne Tha God.

"I have to go and get readjusted every once in a while. I don't think going to rehab is that big of a deal."

Recently, he has been reflecting on his life and has decided to make some changes, including some drastic ones, such as removing several of his more than 200 tattoos. He cautioned people to think about their tattoos carefully, as the process of removing them is "horrible."

"They gotta burn off a layer of your skin and then it has to heal for, like, six to eight weeks and you can't get in the sunlight. And then you gotta do it, like, 12 more times," he explained on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

"So really think about that Game of Thrones tattoo you're thinking of getting, all right? Really think about it."

Nowadays, Pete is doing much better mentally and personally. He is looking forward to concentrating on the next chapter of his acting career, and fans couldn't be happier for him.
