In the days before the scandal made headlines one of the women had truly believed her relationship with Woods wouldn't be found out by anyone, including Woods' wife, Nordegren.
Rachel Uchitel, one of the women who'd had an affair with Woods, even tried taking steps to ensure her relationship wouldn't be found out. She called Elin Nordegren to tell her that she and Woods were "just friends".
According to the Daily Mail, Woods' mistress Uchitel has revealed she called Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren to try to convince her they were not having an affair. "Uchitel said Woods connected her with Nordegren after she joined him at the Australian Masters in November 2009 at his insistence."
Uchitel said, "We had an extensive, 30-minute conversation, Elin and I, convincing her that I was not having a sexual relationship with Tiger."
It seems Uchitel had her story ready for Nordegren, who said, "We talked about how I knew Tiger, how I knew his friends, how and why I was in Australia."
Commenting on the story published in a tabloid (National Enquirer) about Woods and Uchitel's affair shortly after her conversation with Woods' wife, Uchitel said, "The story came out and nobody looked at it. Between the stupid story and phone call with Elin, I remember thinking: 'Oh my God, we're gonna fly right over this.'"
Uchitel believed the conversation would be enough to convince his wife things were ok. But soon, Woods' numerous affairs made public headlines, and so did Woods and Nordegren with rumors of their outrageous fighting.

According to the Daily Mail, when looking back on her relationship with the iconic golfer, Rachel Uchitel commented that the two "really enjoyed being with each other". She added, "He would refer to it as 'plugging in'."
She added that she had asked Woods about Nordegren. "One day I did ask him why he didn't check in at home with Elin. He said she doesn't ask questions like you. She's not like you."
Feeling thankful on Thanksgiving, Uchitel texted Woods about "how they had gotten away unscathed in what could have been a complete nightmare." She next got a text from Woods, which said, "You were the only one I ever loved." At this moment, Uchitel felt "things had never been better" between her and Woods.
The golfer stated he was "taking an Ambien and going to sleep." But Uchitel soon received another text from Woods, in which he asked, "When am I going to see you again?" Before Uchitel could answer, her phone rang, and she answered Woods' call, saying "hey babe."
Only it wasn't Woods on the phone, it was Elin Nordegren, who said to Uchitel, "I knew it was you." Nordegren had been reading her husband's text messages, and one in particular was troubling for her.
