Bravo’s The Real Housewives is a smash hit in reality television that has caused a great impact on pop culture. When the first series of Real Housewives hit our screens back in 2006, no one really could have predicted its true success to come in years to follow. Nonetheless, the popular reality TV concept has held strong, with many different series now on air.
With so many different seasons, cities, and groups of women to watch, many have contemplated what makes each series different? While the format of each show is very similar, the storylines and drama that ensue on each series could not be more different. Let’s take a look at what makes each series of The Real Housewives different.
9 Orange County Started It All
Without RHOC, there’s no way we’d know if Real Housewives would’ve popped off in the way that it did. The women of Orange County started the long-lasting legacy of Real Housewives, something I think we’re all happy about. Of course, each city showcases the luxe lives of a group of women, and Orange County is no different to this. In its later seasons, fans have grown to love other series a little bit more, but the earlier seasons are still classic Real Housewives.
8 Dubai Is The First International Location Intended For An American Audience
Though Dubai is one of Bravo’s newest ventures for Real Housewives, it made history as the first international location to be broadcasted for an American audience. Dubai is a city that we think everyone would want to watch for a reiteration of Real Housewives, but it hasn’t been renewed for a second season yet. We guess we’ll just have to wait and see if fans really gelled with the new show.
7 Beverly Hills Showcases A Luxe Lifestyle With Hollywood Stars (And Intense Drama)
RHOBH has been one of Bravo’s most successful Real Housewives ventures, with fans taking to the drama that the ladies always seem to dish out each season. With varying Hollywood stars like Kim and Kyle Richards and Lissa Rinna being a part of the cast, throughout the years, there’s always been enough drama to keep fans wanting more. As we all know Beverly Hills is an extremely exclusive area in Los Angeles, watching these women duke it out over classy dinners never really gets old.
6 Salt Lake City Is Known For Mormonism – But The Cast Voices Their Own Opinions
When Bravo announced that Salt Lake City was going to be their next venture for Real Housewives back in 2019, many fans were confused and unsure about how the show would go over. Alas, the religious Mormon culture surrounding the Salt Lake area made for a new theme of Real Housewives that we’d never seen before. While some of the cast members like Lisa Barlow spoke openly about their Mormonism, women like Whitney Rose and Heather Gay openly talked about their concerns with the religion.
5 New York City Is Iconically Chaotic With So Many Favorite Housewives
RHONY is known as one of the most chaotic series of Real Housewives ever – and fans love it for that. Over time, some true fan favorite housewives have come out of the series, including Bethenny Frankel and Dorinda Medley. Viewers who love quintessential housewives drama accompanied by extravagant trips with an elevated, chaotic twist love RHONY. Fans and Bravo alike have fallen in love with the cast of RHONY so much that Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps are getting their own spin-off show. While we know that Bravo is currently working on a new series of RHONY with an all-new cast, it’s clear that fans are waiting for the Legacy season that will feature past New York City housewives.
4 New Jersey Is Known For Putting Family First (And The Italian Lifestyle)
While each woman on any series of Real Housewives places deep emphasis on family relationships, New Jersey takes this to an all new level. When the show first debuted, sisters Caroline Manzo and Dina Cantin were a part of the cast with their sister-in-law, Jacqueline Laurita. Showcasing family dynamics on RHONJ became a staple of the show, with Teresa Giudice’s sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, eventually joining the show in Season 3… and we all know how intense the family drama on this show can get. Though not all women on the cast are Italian, many of them are, and they showcase their lifestyle throughout seasons of the show, which happens to place a lot of importance on being close and sticking up for family.
3 Potomac Is Refreshing And Real
RHOP has everything that a viewer could want from a series of Real Housewives: Entertaining drama and hilarious women. The cast always seems to navigate conversations about series topics that have hit the cast in past seasons. As one of fans favorites reiterations of Real Housewives, Potomac initially shocked viewers after Bravo initially stated they would not be returning to the area following the cancelation of The Real Housewives of D.C. Thank goodness they did, because Potomac is a classic Real Housewives series that gives us everything and more in a reality TV show.
2 Atlanta Is A Fan Favorite Known For The Shade
RHOA has historically been known as a show that brings in high viewing numbers for Bravo, and that comes as no surprise if you’ve seen the show. Original housewife NeNe Leaks is known for her iconic and shady moments during her time on the show that have lived on in pop culture since her final departure in 2020.
1 Miami Came Back After Taking A Pause
RHOM originally was on air for three seasons before it was put on pause for low reported ratings. However, Miami came back in 2021 after an eight year break for its fourth season, and seems to be doing alright as they’re gearing up for the debut of Season 5.
