Sutton And Erika: Besties At Last?
For much of Season 12, Erika Jayne and Sutton Stracke have picked up right where they left off last year. That is, at each other's throats.
Petty squabbles over dinner, thinly-veiled (read: not at all veiled) jabs at one another and all-out hostility have been the order of the day.
However, something in the air in Mexico seems to have helped these two make nice. Well, slightly nicer.
Throughout "Sip Faced," the extended cast marvel over the several cordial - and, dare we say it, almost warm - conversations had between Sutton and Erika.
First, the two speak about their ex-husbands. Ironically, during this particular conversation, Sutton asks Erika, point blank, if she felt any responsibility for Tom's alleged crimes. After the singer responds - though not unkindly - "does a doctor's wife feel a responsibility for his patients?" This prompts Sutton to admit that she hadn't thought of it that way.
The two Georgia natives have their second tête-à-tête aboard the boat Dorit hires for the day. This time, they bond over their shared heritage.
The love fest continues over dinner, when Sutton shares with Erika that she has a date when they're back in Beverly Hills. This time, the conversation attracts the attention of their co-stars, with Lisa Rinna and Crystal gesturing at them across the table. Dorit then addresses it, marveling with a hopeful smile that they've seen baby steps throughout the trip. However, both women retort that there's still a ways to go. Ironically, they both agree wholeheartedly that they'll work it out when they're ready - but the agreement itself looks like there's definitely a reconciliation in the cards.
There's Tension Brewing Between Diana And Sutton
Erika and Sutton may be on the road to making up, but the same can't be said of Sutton and season newbie, Diana Jenkins.
Quite the contrary, after last week's argument at dinner, it's clear that all is not well with these two.
First, Diana slips away from a conversation with Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton. After initially showing promise, with Diana opening up to her new co-stars about the devastating loss of her brother, the newbie is visibly annoyed by Sutton sharing that her father had taken his own life.
Taking to her confessional, Diana complains, "all roads lead to Sutton. Irrelevant to what other [people] are going through, somehow she relates everything to herself. This doesn't feel like conversation to me, it feels like Sutton wants to talk about Sutton. She doesn't need me for that."
Shortly after that, once the ladies have finished lunch, Diana quietly sneaks off to have a swim. That prompts Kyle to ask Sutton if she thinks the exit has anything to do with her. It could also have been a case of her feeling uncomfortable with the women singing Erika Jayne's "XXXPEN$IVE" - however, with Diana stung by a jellyfish, any hypotheses are put to bed.
That said, towards the end of the episode, it's clear that Diana is not a fan of Sutton - at all.
After the group's final dinner, Diana tells Kyle and Dorit that she told Sutton she had one chance to speak to her the way she had at the energy cleansing dinner in last week's episode - the implication being that she had used that chance, and now, there would be no going back. She also nods in earnest that the boutique owner was lucky to have got off so lightly.
"She could have gotten headbutt," she shrugs. "The thing is, I am Bosnian."
However, Diana ultimately spells it out for Sutton as the group departs Mexico on the former's private jet. After initially telling the girls to sit wherever they felt comfortable, Sutton asks if she can sit with her. Diana's response? She'd rather sit how they sat before.
Just like that, it's clear: it's Diana VS Sutton.
Luckily for Sutton, though, she won't be missing out on too much. After all, as she reminds Garcelle, "I can get my own plane."
Here's How Fans Reacted To Episode 7
Unfortunately for Diana, it appears as though most fans aren't siding with her. In fact, some pointed out that Sutton had done nothing wrong in their boat conversation.
As for how fans feel about Erika and Sutton's niceties, it seems like viewers were here for it.
Will Sutton and Erika's friendship continue on the up and up? Where will the Diana VS Sutton feud go from here?
We'll just have to keep tuning in to find out!
