Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer took to Instagram to share her complaints about the current state of NYC. Her public Yelp-esque complaint gave the city streets a one-star review, but the reason as to why is confusing.
She ranted on one of her Instagram stories, "To say I'm mortified and disgusted right now being in the city, the city that I love New York City, is an understatement." Singer tagged both Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio in hopes that they will listen to her concerns.
"Within one block, two-block radius I saw three men with their pants down to their knees," she continued, "This is not the New York I grew up in, this is not the New York I have known."
This is the part where one might be scratching their head. Is Singer complaining about an instance of public indecency or something else unsafe? She attended college at the Fashion Institute of Technology in assumingly the 80s. With iconic clubs like Limelight and Studio 54, tame doesn't seem to match past versions of NYC. So what exactly is so different compared to today's Big Apple?
Singer doesn't explain more about what exactly she saw but went on to call out Mayor de Blasio.
"What has the mayor done to our city? What is he doing to help? This should not be. This is not right."
Mayor de Blasio has been subject to criticism throughout his six-year career. Some residents of NYC disapprove of his lack of action and claim that homeless and crime have skyrocketed since he became mayor. Others dislike his style of leadership and view him as arrogant and combative.
If anyone remembers Singer's fight with Carole Radziwill over the election party on RHONY, they'll know that she eluded to the fact that she leans towards conservative viewpoints. This might be another reason why she dislikes de Blasio, as he has described himself as a progressive liberal.
Political parties aside, Singer is one among many who are unhappy with NYC under de Blasio. Her reason is, however, unclear.
