This year has been off to a dramatic and devastating start with the LA wildfires, many of which have affected celebrities and reality TV stars alike. As the flames blaze on for a second week, several people have bid tearful goodbyes to their homes, even including high-profile figures like Paris Hilton and Mel Gibson.

While the fires have yet to get under control, one reality TV figure came under fire for some insensitive comments. It seems that The Real Housewives of New York City's Ramona Singer shared some words that rubbed many the wrong way.

Ramona Bragged About Her Ocean Views

The incident took place on Friday, when Ramona posted a video of herself on her Instagram story. The clip showed a balcony overlooking the beach in Florida, including the serene waters and several palm trees. The video starts with Ramona holding the camera in selfie mode, smiling with a pair of sunglasses on before flipping the camera around.

The trouble began due to the text that Ramona chose to put over the video:

A beautiful day to wake up to... unfortunately people in Cali have no idea what their day will bring.

Ramona ended her text with an emoji of a crying face and of a pair of hands praying, perhaps showing her empathy for those who had to evacuate due to the fires. When fans saw the post, however, many denounced her words as tone-deaf, possibly even bragging about her situation while others' lives were in peril.

Ramona Faced Criticism For Her Words

It was clear that several of Ramona's followers weren't happy about her choice of words during such a difficult time. After Ramona's video was reposted on the Instagram account "The Talk Of Shame," social media users didn't hold back in their criticism of the reality stars.

"I can’t believe people are begging to have her back on screens… no thanks," wrote one. "It’s always the people you most expect," said another. Yet another wondered how Ramona could say something so thoughtless without second-guessing her post:

Is that her actual caption about the people in California.. how one can be so out of touch is so disturbing!!

Others piled on with how displeased they were to see Ramona's behavior. At the same time, however, others pointed out that this certainly wasn't the first time that the Real Housewives Of New York star had put her foot in her mouth. There was even some debate among social media users whether Ramona could be expected to have a certain level of awareness given all of her past blunders.

As a Page Six article recounted, Ramona has possibly had even worst scandals in her past. One of the most horrific was the time that she was cut from the BravoCon lineup for using a racial slur. While Ramona was originally slated to appear at the three-day event in Las Vegas, her name was later scrubbed from it after the incident. Apparently Ramona used the N-word in a text to a Page Six reporter when she was referring to a Black crew member.

After the incident occurred, Ramona seemed to dig herself even deeper. In her ongoing text conversation with the reporter, she would go on to use another version of the slur for a second time, showing that instead of learning from her mistake, she was more set on defending herself in the situation. "And the word I used was ‘NWord’ Not n-g…,” she wrote in her text, a screenshot of which has since been shared in the aforementioned article from Page Six.

Given past slip-ups like these and Ramona's apparent resistance to take accountability, perhaps it's not a surprise that she'd be caught making comments like these about the fires. As of this article's writing, the LA wildfires continue to rage on, now moving into the second week of the threat — currently, the Palisades fire has consumed well over 20,000 acres. In Ramona's most recent Instagram post, she shared a photo of herself still in Florida. "So fun at Carbone in Miami! Living my best life .. hope you all are too !!!" she wrote.
