Fans might not realize, but Ronnie Magro making it on to ‘Jersey Shore’ was completely random. As he explained with Inked, he really had no plans of appearing on reality television, and in truth, he was broke with a little more than $30 in the bank. He explained the casting process, “A strange girl walks up to me and she’s like, ’You look like you fit the criteria for this TV show we’re doing. And I’m like, ‘What? Douchebag?’” Ortiz-Magro laughed. “Then on a Tuesday she gives me a call and says ‘Hey, would you come to Long Island and do an interview?’”
Ronnie was a bit skeptical at first, given the bizarre location of the audition out in California, though once he saw people that looked like him leaving the audition room, he knew he was in the right place!
Once he grew to stardom, it had its up and downs. One of the major downs was leaving his family and constantly being on TV with the reality show. The lifestyle wasn’t an easy one either, filled with different alcohol choices along with Red Bulls. Who can forget, “Ron Ron Juice’.
Regardless, Ronnie is grateful he got to see his life play out on television, learning from both the ups and downs, “Obviously, I’ve always had my ups and downs on the show, but getting to watch it again has allowed me to really learn from my mistakes, and to see things I knew I would never do again,” he said. “Now, I just want to focus on being a dad and on my career. And I really want to show a different side of me in the new season coming up.”
It is remarkable to see his growth as a person from both then and now. We can’t imagine season one Ronnie fathering a child, but that’s the case at the moment. He’s done a lot of growing up and that was especially evident most recently on IG.
