Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are two of the biggest actors in recent memory. After getting his start as a child, Gosling grew into a heartthrob and a dream leading man. Crowe has been starring in blockbuster movies for decades and remains box office gold.
When the two starred in the film The Nice Guys, they went on a promotional blitz that took them everywhere, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
During their Colbert appearance, Gosling and Crowe participated in a pre-planned skit with the late night host. The skit was well-received by both the in-studio audience and the viewers watching at home. Many believed the two actors did so well; Colbert himself even lost control of the segment.
Ryan Gosling And Russell Crowe Take Over Stephen Colbert's Interview With A Pre-Planned Skit
In 2016, Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote their comedy film The Nice Guys.
That same year, Crowe opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about why he believed audiences were enjoying the film.
"There’s a long history of great detective stories and that’s what this is," Crowe told the outlet. "And as funny as it may be, there’s a real density to the narrative and there’s very much a story to follow, so I think that’s what people are also getting into it as well. It keeps you guessing."
The film's director, Shane Black, also talked about the chemistry between Gosling and Crowe.
"I’ve been on sets where the two guys didn’t like each other very much," Black said. "That’s a terrible situation and this was not that. The problem was, if any, was that they were ruining takes because they would make each other laugh and they were sadistic about it."
Part of that came through in their appearance on Colbert's show. Crowe and Gosling participated in a pre-planned skit with Colbert during the interview. Crowe acted like he didn't need Gosling to do the film and Gosling got so offended, he walked out. Then, both Crowe and Colbert begged Gosling to come back on stage.

Lady Gaga Once Left Stephen Colbert Speechless After The Host Asked Her This Question
Stephen Colbert was at a loss for words after Lady Gaga gave an answer he wasn't expecting.
"I'm pretty sure on some level, Stephen genuinely lost control of the sketch," someone wrote in the YouTube comments.
Another commented, "I love how Ryan just acts like a child."
Mariah Carey Took Complete Control Of Her Interview With Stephen Colbert
When Mariah Carey appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2022, she discussed all things Christmas. It marked her second appearance on the show. Carey previously appeared via Zoom in 2020 to discuss her New York Times bestselling memoir "The Meaning of Mariah Carey."
This time, Carey was there to promote her Christmas tour, whose New York City shows were filmed for a CBS special.
When Colbert mentioned Carey being referred to as "the Queen of Christmas," the singer took a moment to set the record straight. Although lots of people believe Carey has given herself that title, she insisted this wasn't the case.
"I did not call myself the Queen of Christmas," she said. "They can look up every interview I've ever done, and not to get super religious, but I think if anybody would be the Queen of Christmas, that would be Mary."
Carey also told Colbert that her love of Christmas was genuine and came from her troubled childhood.
"I just happen to really love Christmas because I had kind of a tough childhood and I always wanted Christmas to be perfect and it never was," Carey said. "So then, when I was able to finally provide myself with, and my friends, and now my little kids who are 11, we have the most festive Christmas ever...because its actually authentic, and it came from a place of longing to have some normalcy and peace and just like, a lovely holiday."
Fans on YouTube complimented Carey's handling of the "Colbert Questionert," noting that she took control of the interview.
“A true diva!!! She answers the questions she wants to,” one user commented.

Mariah Carey Took Control With Stephen Colbert After He Made An Incorrect Statement About Her Christmas Legacy
Mariah Carey cleared the air about her "Queen of Christmas" title while chatting with Stephen Colbert.
“I've never seen her so chatty, loved the confusion!” another wrote. “Steven lost himself couple of times, she avoided everything she could, it's all fun when people have positive vibes.”
“What I like about Mariah Carey is that she is unapologetically herself,” another fan commented. “She doesn’t try to appease anyone. She comes across as witty, dominating and also playful in this interview and I love every second of it.”
These Actors Also Took Control Of Two Late Night Shows By Switching Places
In 2021, Ryan Reynolds was promoting his film Red Notice and Will Ferrell was promoting the miniseries The Shrink Next Door. While the two were busy promoting their respective projects, they decided to have a little fun with their busy schedules.
This is where their love of stunts came into play. Reynolds was booked on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote Red Notice, while Ferrell was scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Ultimately, the two decided to switch talk shows, with Ferrell going on Kimmel's show and Reynolds appearing on Fallon's.
What made the moment even funnier is that both Reynolds and Ferrell continued with the questions the hosts had prepared for the planned guest. When Ferrell was asked about Red Notice, he said that he hadn't seen the movie yet, but "hoped" it would be good.
"How is your beautiful wife Blake Lively?" Kimmel asked Ferrell.
Ferrell jokingly replied, "My wife Blake is wonderful, thank you for asking. She's doing great. It's a really busy household. She's a great cook, yeah. She makes oatmeal, killer nachos."
When Reynolds came out on The Tonight Show, Fallon said that he had "a list of questions for Will," but said, "Now that you're here, can I... how's Blake? How are the kids?"

Will Ferrell And Ryan Reynolds Hilariously Swapped Late Night Talks Shows Without Telling Jimmy Kimmel Or Jimmy Fallon
The two actors caught Kimmel and Fallon off guard by switching their respective talk show gigs.
"You know, they're all good. Blake's, uh, no personal questions, by the way, but Blake's is great. The sex is totally normal," Reynolds responded.
"Wait, I wasn't gonna ask that!" Fallon quickly said.
"Hey, hey. Pump the sex brakes, Jimmy," Reynolds jokingly said. "I asked no personal questions and you're going right in on it, alright? Barbara Walters, easy! Easy does it."
