Stephen Colbert Called The Lost City "Silly" And "Stupid," While Sandra Bullock Had An Awkward Reaction To The Comments
The Lost City was a stellar hit at the box office, bringing in $192 million. The film also received decent reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes dishing out an approval rating of 79%.
While promoting the film, Sandra Bulluck had an interview with Stephen Colbert. It was her first time on the Late Show in years. It seems like the interview gets off to a bumpy start after Colbert uses unusual words to describe Bullock's return to film.
He says about the movie, "It is an action/adventure and a comedy. I mean this with the highest possible compliment. It is silly and it is stupid. It is so ridiculous." Bullock interjects, "Wow, that's the word you're putting out in the universe."
Colbert would go on to add the word "fun," to which Bullock was upset that the host said that at the end.
"I'm thinking, why am I here," Bullock adds.
Colbert would go on to state that this was the highest compliment he could give as a comedian. Colbert added, "It is so fun, and it has so many explosions. What more can you want?"
Following the interview hurdle, it seems like things finally settled down between the two, in what was actually a very entertaining interview. Looking back, fans applauded both Colbert and Bullock for the chat.
Despite The Comment, Fans Praised The Interview Between Stephen Colbert And Sandra Bullock
Sure, the interview got off to a questionable start. However, the feedback from fans was indeed positive. Fans loved that the two meshed well together, while also appreciating Bullock's sense of humor throughout the interview and how she didn't take herself too seriously.
Fans wrote, "This was hilarious. Sandra Bullock is the most fun. Thank you Stephan for brightening my day with this interview."
"I love how the conversation completely derailed and was a pile-up of double-entendres. They mesh so well and riff off their own innate dry sense of humour, what a treat!"
"How does Sandy B manage to have pure gold sibling relationships with every single man she talks to? it's so wholesome. This is exactly how all siblings are-- banter and giggles over stupid sex jokes. Love this lady so much. She brings the right balance of authenticity and hyperbole to everything she does."
The consensus among fans was that not only was the interview great and entertaining, but possibly Stephen Colbert's best Late Show interview ever.
Sandra Bullock Had A Positive Experience With Channing Tatum In The Lost City
Bullock opened up about filming Lost City with Channing Tatum. As expected from Bullock's standpoint, it was a positive experience and one she enjoyed.
Sandra said about her co-star, "Channing is so comfortable with [himself]," she said. "He knew it was for a comedy, he wasn't trying to be serious. He worked really hard to make sure when his rear end turned into frame that it was perfect. I mean, I looked, I look for imperfections and I did not see any."
"It's very smooth. We didn't have to do any, like, visual effects fixes. It's just like a little baby's bottom."
Bullock would go on to reveal that she was planning on taking a break following the film.
"I take my job very seriously when I’m at work," she said, adding it's a "24/7" job. "And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family." "That’s where I’m gonna be for a while," she added.
Bullock held true to her promise, as that was indeed her final film role. She is currently on a break from Hollywood, and it doesn't seem like a return is on the horizon just yet.
