When Selena Gomez was still a child, she took her first major steps towards stardom when she landed a role on Barney & Friends. Ever since then, Gomez has remained in the public eye and her private life has often been in the spotlight.

Thanks to Gomez's superstar status, she has so many fans who have followed her history with Justin Bieber that she stated that she is tired of being haunted by her ex. On top of that, people pay a lot of attention to Gomez's friendships including her relationship with Francia Raísa.

Given that there are so many people who seem to examine every part of Gomez's life, it certainly seems like people should know about most of the major parts of her life. Despite that, however, it turns out that many of Gomez's fans have no idea about the story behind her first kiss.

Unsurprisingly, Gomez shared her first kiss with another celebrity, Dylan Sprouse. While that is interesting enough, the truly fascinating part of the story is how Gomez felt about her first kiss at the time.

Selena Gomez's First Kiss With Dylan Sprouse Went Horribly

If people look at the modern pop culture landscape, it quickly becomes extremely clear that Disney has had a massive influence. Of course, in some ways that is incredibly obvious given the popularity of many Disney films and how many people watch the Marvel and Stars Wars content the company releases.

On top of the films and shows Disney produces, the company is responsible for another major part of the current pop culture landscape. After all, a large portion of the stars who've risen to fame over the last few decades got their first big break by headlining a Disney Channel show.

As Selena Gomez fans will no doubt already know, she first truly became famous because she starred in the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place from 2007 until 2012. On the other hand, there is another aspect of Gomez's rise to fame that some of her fans may not realize.

In most cases, people who become Disney Channel stars start by taking small roles in the network's other series. No exception to that role, before Gomez started starring in Wizards of Waverly Place, she appeared in an episode of both Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

During the one episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody she appeared in, Gomez played a character named Gwen. Unfortunately for Gwen, the character gets put in a very awkward position since she is dating Cody, but then she is cast in a play where she has to kiss Zack.

From there, things only get more confusing for Gwen as the kiss makes her have feelings for Zack. In the end, Gwen tells Cody about her feelings for Zack and then things blow up leaving her not interested in even talking to either of the brothers.

Amazingly enough, Gomez's experience appearing in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody was remarkably similar to what her character went through in a very awkward way.

In 2020, Gomez made an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show where the subject of her experience on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody came up. While talking to the lovable host, Gomez revealed that before being cast in the show, she had a massive crush on Cole Sprouse.

“I was in love with Cole Sprouse....I was obsessed with that show [The Suite Life of Zack & Cody] and I thought we were going to be together one day.”

Since she had such intense feelings for Cole, Gomez was very upset at the time that she kissed his brother Dylan Sprouse while in character. While talking about being in that situation, Gomez revealed how upset she was at the time even though she was laughing while telling the story.

“Then I guest-starred on the show, but I kissed his brother and I didn’t get to kiss Cole....It was my first kiss—on camera! It was one of the worst days of my life!”

If it wasn't bad enough that Gomez felt so bad about sharing her first kiss with Dylan, it gets worse than that too. Gomez also revealed to Clarkson that the kiss she shared with Dylan went wrong in another way.

“I actually leaned in to kiss him, and I had my eyes closed a little too early and I ended up missing, like, half of his lip. It ended up being the most awkward kiss in the world. But I was 12, so it was okay and it was good."

Has Selena Gomez Dated Any Disney Channel Stars?

Given how Selena Gomez described her experience starring in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, it likely won't surprise anyone that it didn't lead to romance. Despite how Gomez once felt about Cole Sprouse, the two former Disney Channel stars never dated.

While Gomez never made her hopes of dating a Sprouse happen, that doesn't mean that she didn't build a connection with anyone from the Disney Channel lineup.

During Gomez's time starring in Wizards of Waverly Place, she got involved with another young star who headlined a Disney Channel show in that era, Nick Jonas. Given that Gomez and Jonas were both in a stage of their lives where people don't know how to be in relationships, it shouldn't surprise anyone that drama ensued.

Since Miley Cyrus dated Nick Gomez first, there were reports of hard feelings between the teen stars. To hear some observers describe it, Gomez and Cyrus engaged in a feud because of both of their involvement with Nick.

Years later in 2016, Gomez spoke to W Magazine and stated that fans and the media wildly overstated the issues she had with Cyrus.

"We never feuded. We both liked the same guy when we were 16. It was just a Hilary Duff–Lindsay Lohan thing: 'Oh, my God, we like the same boy!' We are now completely settled in our own lives."

After they reportedly first got involved in 2008, Gomez and Nick ended their relationship in 2010.
