For viewers of reality TV series Selling Sunset, Alanna Gold may come as a familiar face. She appears as one of the show's more recent cast members, joining the long-running program in Season 8.

Prior to being a part of the Oppenheim team, Alanna previously worked for another high-end real estate company, sharpening her skills and adding to her resume. More recently, though, some bizarre details have come out about Alanna's net worth—and some of the mistaken remarks were even reported by the reality TV star herself.

Selling Sunset's Alanna Gold's Net Worth Isn't Actually What She Claims

Where did the slip up about the reality star's net worth come from? It seems that, just recently, Alanna made some confusing comments that mistakenly claimed she owned Pioneertown in an interview with People. Pioneertown is a famously unincorporated community in the San Bernadino County of California, designed in the style of the 1880s and known as both a film shooting location and a popular tourist destination for those passing through.

In her interview, Alanna spoke about what drew her to the place originally. She noted it was something she'd had her eye on for a while:

We’ve always really loved it, and it was actually where we went for one of our first trips. We always knew we wanted to own a piece of property out there or be a part of the community somehow. We kind of always assumed it was going to be through owning a home out there, which we do now, a place we call Cosmic Ranch.

Alanna's mistake came when she continued on to talk about owning the town, something that has since been proven to be false. She said that, back in 2020, she learned that "a large portion of Pioneertown was for sale," and she took it as an opportunity on which she wanted to capitalize.

Alanna Faced Pushback About Her Pioneertown Remarks

Being affiliated with a Pioneertown listing seems like it must've been a lucrative one. Apparently, real estate ringleader Jason Oppenheim offered Alanna $2.2 million for the spot in question. That said, it's reported that the location's actual value is even more than that—Stylecaster reports that Pioneertown is actually worth a whopping $228k per acre, and that, all in, the town encompasses around 640 acres.

Despite owning some of Pioneertown, Alanna actually doesn't even own a majority share of the land there. In reality, her company owns closer to 10% of the area—more like 50 acres out of the 640 total. To say that she owned the entire town, therefore, was completely off base.

Since then, however, Alanna has issued an official statement for her blunder. She noted how sorry she was for her poor choice of words:

I want to reach out to personally say I am so deeply sorry for the confusion I have caused... I certainly do not own Pioneertown, I never should have said that and I apologize for doing so. I want you to know that I did not mean any harm, I absolutely love Pioneertown and I simply got too excited talking about it.

It appears that among those who were upset by Alanna's untrue statements were residents of Pioneertown themselves. Some of them pointed out that Alanna's claims were insulting, as they disregarded decades of Pioneertown's own independent culture, what one resident referred to as their "internationally celebrated film, arts and cultural history."

Indeed, it would appear that the Selling Sunset star's claims didn't take into consideration the over 400 residents who call Pioneertown their home, and that for someone to say they owned the entire city was like a slap in the face. Alanna went on to express that she would "never want to disrespect the town's history" or fail to consider "any of the people who make it such a wonderful place."

As of now, there's no word on how residents of the town have responded to her statement.

Alanna's Journey Into Real Estate

Even without the stake in Pioneertown, it seems that Alanna continues to do very well for herself. She has a reported net worth of around $2 million, and her spouse, Adam Gold, also rakes in the cash working in the private members club Living Room. In fact, both Alanna and Josh went in together when it came to buying the property in Pioneertown, the couple deciding to pool their resources to make the purchase happen.

Long before joining the Oppenheim team, Alanna almost took an entirely different career path. She shared with People that she was initially planning on becoming a vet, but that, for more reasons than one, she ended up pivoting. "I was originally studying to be a vet, so I was going to university," she explained, "And I got discovered for modeling in the middle of it. I took the opportunity because I’m actually allergic to animals, so that was not a good path for me."

Since then, Alanna has made yet another pivot, getting her real estate license back in 2021. She worked for the Westside Estate Agency, another company based in Los Angeles, from 2021 until 2023. It was after that point that she joined forces with The Oppenheim Group, where she's been ever since.

Though Alanna has since apologized for her false remarks about Pioneertown, she continues to talk about how excited she is about the property. She noted that, when she and her husband first came across the opportunity in 2020, she thought of it as a chance to "make it vibrant again" and that together the two could "preserve a piece of history." It seems that getting involved with the historic town was like a bucket list item for her, its fascinating history and ability to function as an active film set to this day drawing her in.

The latest season of the Netflix hit show aired on Friday, Sept. 6, with all 11 episodes dropping at once. Fans can tune in to catch Alanna's latest real estate adventures, including her involvement with the Pioneertown listing. Only time will tell whether the Selling Sunset newbie will be able to stick her landing as she navigates high-profile listings and deals with the drama from the other cast members. All eight seasons of Selling Sunset are available on streaming platform Netflix now.
