Selling Sunset's Chelsea Lazkani Missed Several Red Flags Leading To Her Marriage's Downfall

On paper, Selling Sunset's Chelsea Lazkani has the perfect life with her ex-husband Jeff Lazkani but the red flags were there.

According to ScreenRant, Jeff and Chelsea met in 2015 on a dating app and later married in August 2017. The pair has two children and looked to have the perfect life in California, but life was not as rosy as it was portrayed on her Netflix reality TV show.

Chelsea filed for divorce in March 2024, citing "irreconcilable differences." Although Chelsea didn't speak about their split at the time, it played out in season 8 of Selling Sunset, which premiered in September 2024.

Despite how their marriage was portrayed on Selling Sunset, it sounds like the Lazkanis marriage was less than perfect. On the show, Chelsea worries if her hard work ethic means her marriage has been made a second priority in her life. Despite Jeff introducing her to Jason Oppenheim and helping her land a role on the Netflix show, she feared her husband cheated because she was out showing houses while he was free to do other things.

In response to Chelsea filing for divorce and asking for spousal support, E! Online reported that Jeff alleged that Chelsea had behaved aggressively towards him during their marriage.

He claims his former wife would "would start an altercation with me, only to pull out her cell phone and record my response, as if to try and catch me speaking in a hostile or aggressive manner after provoking me by being derogatory or disrespectful to me."

In the past, [Chelsea] demonstrated that she is capable of being physically violent and aggressive.

Jeff also alleged that Chelsea "struck" him "in the face in an aggressive manner, breaking his glasses and causing a small cut on the side of his face. "For example, about a year ago, [Chelsea] struck me in the face, breaking my glasses and causing a small cut on the side of my face. I have never put a hand on [Chelsea] in a physically aggressive way."

His claims also reveal Chelsea allegedly “installed a lock on the primary bedroom” of their home and “monitors his access to the property, and records him at the property.”

Jeff has now requested that the couple not live at their marital home together anymore, which he is claimed to own. He also alleged Chelsea “provoked " him to get video footage of him “overreacting” to her.

As of this article's publishing, no update has been given on the resolution of their marriage or court filings.

In season 8 of Selling Sunset, Chelsea Lazkani's costar and enemy, Bre Tiesi, informs the Brit that her friend heard Jeff was "making out" in a hotel lobby with another woman.

I just wanted to come to you woman to woman because I’ve been here. I was married, my husband was doing the same thing with multiple women.

Chelsea was upset that Bre brought up her husband's infidelity on camera, but the former model says Chelsea was already aware before filming.

"I told [Chelsea] months before we filmed," Bre told E! "I told her before Amanda was even coming on, and I let her know production asked for this lunch.'" Chelsea admits she knew that Bre had something on her but didn't know what it was before sitting down to film the scene.

Chelsea insisted that the rumor brought to her by Bre “has nothing to do with the deterioration of my marriage.”

“Chelsea believes Jeff was unfaithful in their marriage and that is why she filed for divorce,” a source told US Weekly. “The divorce has been looming for weeks now and she decided to abruptly file. She is completely devastated right now and is especially upset for her the sake of their children.”

The insider close to the reality star claimed that Jeff's cheating “had been going on for months."

“She had suspected the cheating for a while and wanted to catch him in the act before filing. She finally had enough and decided to file this week, but it was a long time coming. She is still in the house with their kids. She wants him to stay out of the house, and they are not on speaking terms.”

Chelsea Lazkani was proud to showcase the luxurious life she shared with Jeff. She lived in a Manhattan Beach home, an upmarket area in California which is worth around $4 million.

For years, Chelsea worked as a business strategist and solar analyst with oil and gas companies before she visited Los Angeles and fell in love with Jeff. Chelsea joined The Oppenheim Group in July 2021 and in her first year as an agent, she allegedly oversaw more than $10 million in sales.

Although she is a well-educated and hard-working woman, she enjoys taking time to experience the finer things in life. As evidenced by her Instagram, she regularly vacationed, including yachting on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, ski trips, and honeymooning in the Maldives.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea clarifies that her life is not as glamorous as her Instagram indicates. "Yes, my life is fabulous—it’s absolutely fantastic, but it’s not all vacations and fancy outfits. That’s when I take photos—when I look nice. Ninety percent of the time, my life doesn’t look like that."

It wasn't always a life of luxury for British-Nigerian Chelsea. The daughter of Nigerian immigrants, she recalls her parents struggling to provide for her and her siblings. However, her parents' hard work paid off and taught her the importance of working for your goals. "When I got to secondary school, something changed and we moved into a bigger house in Mill Hill — on a very prestigious street, one my parents had wanted to live on for many years. I saw the absolute pride and joy it brought them."

Now, she is happy she gives her own two children the finer things in life. She admits her "kids own" her, and when she is not all glammed up for Selling Sunset, she is with them. "I’m not strict. I want my son to be free. He picks the hairstyle he wants, he chooses his clothes and what he wants to eat. All I ask is that he has a zest for life, wants to learn and is kind. I try to spend two hours a day giving them my undivided attention. I get up really early to get my emails done and get set for the day."

Her estimated net worth is reportedly US$500,000, and according to legal records, the couple had no prenup.
