Jeremy Allen White was unsure about joining the cast of The Bear after appearing on Shameless for so long.
“I love Shameless so much. I love everybody that was a part of it, and the experience was incredible,” the 31-year-old told GQ. “But I’m not sure if shows are meant to go that long.” He appeared in 134 episodes of the drama.
“There was a period where I stopped feeling like an actor and I started feeling like I was just here to do this show,” he said. “It was an upsetting head space to be in. When it was going to end, I was questioning: Maybe I do just exist on this show. What else is there? Am I an actor? I was definitely having a lot of doubt.”

Emmy Rossum and Jeremy Allen White have both become parents since Shameless ended. Rossum announced the birth of her child, after keeping her pregnancy secret, in May 2021.
She told fans, “5.24.21. On a sunny Monday morning, at 8:13AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world.” The news was met with a flurry of congratulations, including from Jeremy Allen White who commented: “She’s here! Welcome little [Red heart emoji].”
White has two children with his wife Addison Timlin, Ezer and Dolores.
