HBO has long since been a destination for premier television and as of May 2020, HBO joined the streaming game when they launched HBO Max. Like all streaming services, HBO Max is full of content including original content created solely for the streaming platform. While there's not a ton of new content yet, HBO Max did launch with the original comedy series Love Life starring Anna Kendrick.

Love Life centers on Darby Carter (Kendrick) a young adult who is trying to navigate her love life while also trying to build a career for herself. The anthology series follows Carter through her 20s and 30s documenting all the highs and lows of her dating history. It's a fun and easy binge watch that'll leave you wanting to binge more shows just like it.

10 High Fidelity (Hulu)

Inspired by the John Cusack led film of the same name and the novel of the same name, the Hulu series High Fidelity tells a similar story but with the genders flipped. This time around Rob, a record-store owner hung up on her ex-boyfriend, is played by Zoe Kravitz instead of Cusack. The series follows Rob as she reminisces on her list of top 5 heartbreaks while also re-entering the dating scene in the hopes of getting over her long-term boyfriend.

High Fidelity and Love Life have a lot in common including the fact that both star Kingsley Ben-Adir. In addition, the series both center on quick-witted women who are just trying to find their place in the world.

9 Younger (Hulu)

Younger stars Sutton Foster as Liza Miller, a 40-year-old, single mom who has decided to start a new career. Finding it start a career later in life, Liza decides to lie about her age to her boss and coworkers claiming she is only 26-years-old. The series is currently going into its seventh season on TV Land with the previous six seasons available to stream on Hulu.

While Liza might be a lot older than Darby, these two characters share a lot in common since both are trying to jumpstart their careers while also dealing with the crazy dating world.

8 Modern Love (Amazon Prime)

Produced in partnership with the New York Times, Modern Love follows a new story every episode that was inspired by a real-life story published in the New York Times's Modern Love column. The series features an A-list cast with Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway, and Dev Patel all making appearances.

Much like Love Life, Modern Love centers its narrative around the power of love while also showing the highs and lows that affect every relationship no matter how young or old you are.

7 Better Things (Hulu)

The FX original series Better Things follows Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon) as she navigates single motherhood while also trying to have a little bit of fun on her own. In addition to raising her three daughters, Sam also looks out for her mom who lives across the street who is always causing trouble for Sam.

While Better Things is more sitcom-y than Love Life, the two still have a lot in common. If nothing else, they both have comedic moments that'll leave you laughing for days.

6 The Bold Type (Hulu)

The Bold Type is a Freeform original drama that is also available to stream on Hulu. The series centers around three best friends who live in New York City and work at the fictional Scarlett Magazine in various departments. In addition to their complicated work lives, the three women must juggle their very different romantic relationships.

Not only does The Bold Type feature three strong career-driven women much like Love Life, but it also depicts three very different relationships -- including an LGBTQ romantic arc.

5 Good Trouble (Hulu)

Good Trouble is another Freeform original series that is available to stream on Hulu. A spin-off of the popular series The Fosters, Good Trouble follows Cali and Mariana as they move to Los Angeles in order to jumpstart their careers while living in a communal living apartment building.

If you loved the drama and romance of Love Life then Good Trouble is definitely the show for you. With an ensemble cast, there is no shortage of drama, heartbreak, and romance. However, Good Trouble also does an amazing job of being educational and keeping audiences informed about very important social issues going on in the real world.

4 Fleabag (Amazon Prime)

Based on Phoebe Waller-Bridges' one-woman comedy act, Fleabag follows its title character as she navigates life and love in London despite the fact that her life has been riddled with tragedy. While Fleabag's attitude can take some getting used to her, her ability to break the fourth wall definitely helps make her character likable and more relatable.

Darcy may have had her bad moments in Love Life but for the most part, she was a positive person ready to take advantage of the world, Phoebe Waller-Bridges' Fleabag is not quite as chipper as Darcy is. However, the two characters and shows still have a lot in common and are worth watching.

3 Normal People (Hulu)

Based on a novel of the same name, Normal People is an Irish drama series that centers around Marianne Sheridan and Connel Waldron, a couple who are very much in love. The series follows their love story as they move from high school into college where their paths begin to drift apart.

Normal People is the perfect show to binge for Love Life fans who adored Darcy's relationship with Augie. Much like them, Marianne and Connel's love story isn't linear and the two meet at different times in their lives which complicates their feelings for one another.

2 Dash And Lily (Netflix)

Dash & Lily is inspired by the young adult novel of the same name and follows its title characters on an adventure through New York City during Christmas time. Lily has never been in love but she's determined to find the one so she hides a red notebook at her favorite bookstore. When Dash finds it and agrees to play her game of dares, the two begin an epic scavenger hunt inspired romance.

While Dash & Lily is definitely a show geared towards a younger audience, fans of Love Life can still indulge in the innocent nature of Dash and Lily's relationship.

1 Lovesick (Netflix)

Originally a British sitcom, Netflix Lovesick internationally for the first season before renewing it for a second and third season airing exclusively on Netflix. The series centers on Dylan, a young man who must reconnect with all the women in his past after learning that he contracted a sexually transmitted disease.

Like Love Life, Lovesick showcases different types of relationships through its main character who ends up learning a valuable lesson from each and every one.
