Jim Parsons Decision To End The Show Shocked Kaley Cuoco Who Wasn't Ready To Say Goodbye
Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco entered Chuck Lorre's office thinking there was going to be a discussion about season 13. Instead, Cuoco was stunned to realize that the talk was instead about the series coming to an end.
It was at that point, in which Jim Parsons revealed he could no longer do the show.
Kaley Cuoco opened up alongside Variety, recalling the experience. “Jim said, ‘I don’t think I can continue on. And I was so shocked that I was literally like, ‘Continue on with what?’ Like, I didn’t even know what he was talking about. I looked at Chuck: ‘Wow. I thought we were — I’m so blown away right now."
Despite wanting to continue on, Cuoco agreed with the rest of the cast that if someone left, it meant the end of the series.
“We’re all for one, one for all. And we’re not going to do this without the whole team. That was the one thing we all agreed on — we came in together, we go out together.”
Although it was a heartbreaking decision, some of the cast agreed and that included Simon Helberg.
Simon Helberg Agreed That It Was Time To Move On From The Big Bang Theory
Saying goodbye to The Big Bang Theory was not easy for the cast to digest. The final episode was a tough one, especially for the main cast. Johnny Galecki recalls completely losing it.
“I was so worried about [co-star] Kaley [Cuoco] and her being overcome with emotion,” he explained.
"I ended up being the quivering puddle of tears on the floor. Starting off the show last night was tough. But then you gotta do your damn job, and put the tears aside and try to make people laugh. It was a terribly, terribly moving night.”
Galecki was among those that agreed, it was time to move on from the series after 12 seasons. In addition, Simon Helberg also revealed that it was the right time to say goodbye.
“It was time to say goodbye. I think that’s a healthy thing. I don’t think that means that you’re going to have an easy go of it. But it feels like we’ve said all we could say. And I think that’s something we can all be proud of," Helberg stated with TV Line.
Since the show came to an end, Helberg has been among the most active.
Simon Helberg's Career Has Thrived Since The Big Bang Theory Came To An End
Following his time on The Big Bang Theory, Simon Helberg completely changed things up, appearing in a more dramatic and musical role alongside Adam Drive in Annette.
Speaking alongside Coming Soon, Helberg discussed being thrilled about changing up his role and not having to work in the comedy genre, which was typical to his career at that point.
"It’s always very appealing to me to get to play different types of people and to show different sides of myself. This offered that. I didn’t know how much it would exactly."
"When I read it, I knew it was obviously a character I’d never played. It was a project like I had never done before, but until you’re there, like the conducting scene with the cameras going around me, I didn’t imagine it that way."
Among his latest projects include As They Made Us, Space Oddity and a TV series, Poker Face. Clearly, the actor remains very much in-demand.
